hi, i have a 2014 giant trance sx. I was talking to a suspension specialist today and he told me that i could change my rear shock from a 7.875 x 2.00 to a 7.875 x 2.25 to gain 17mm more rear travel. has anyone tried this?

Im not sure that would work, and i havent heard of anybody doing that. But i guess itd be worth a shot if a suspension specialist told you to do it.

Looks nice. But please don't advertise in the forums, it's annoying.

Sorry man, I hadn't done an update on my build since before I got the new drivetrain on it so I thought I'd kill 2 birds with one stone. My bad.

Not a problem. Completely dialled though, good luck selling!

I just broke my collarbone yesterday, for the second time in under a year. I had been back on the bike exactly 1 month as of yesterday after 9 months of recovering, and I went down in the street less than 1,000ft from my house when I was on my way back from the trail, so now I'm out for another 9 months.

I was mainly building this bike because I had booked a trip to whistler this summer and I had my full race season planned out, but now that's all been washed down the drain. So I guess there's no reason to have this beast sitting around collecting dust… again. It'll be sad to see her go, I've put a TON of hard work and lots and lots of money into her. But it is what it is.

Keep it and re-book your plans, just for next year.

I would, but I also need a truck/car and the money. I work at a bike shop, so its relativity easy for me to get a decent dh rig thrown together pretty fast. I will definitely be going next year but probably with a different bike. but i dont want to let it go under what its worth on a bad day, so I may end up taking it next year. unfortunately because of this injury i pretty much had to cancel my ENVE order for some new wheels for this thing, if i end up keeping the bike, ill re-order those dream wheels!

I hope you're not serious with that price at $9500! I mean that bike is dialed and it has some nice components, but come on. If it had ENVE rims, CCDB rear shock, etc. you could maybe justify asking something close to that number, and if it was brand new! Bottom line, you can go buy a carbon Nomad with full XTR or XX1 and ENVE wheels for that price, and it has never been ridden. Just putting it into perspective for you. Also, I wouldn't take the full retail price of the bike, and add the $ value of each upgraded part you installed to replace another one in your calculation of the value of the bike. The initial $4,900 includes the price of the stock cranks, handlebars, wheels, saddle, and anything else that you replaced. Adding the retail value of the upgrades to the retail value of the bike is ridiculous, you're artificially doubling the cost of the bike. If you ever want to sell it, start at $7,000 (still overpriced) and then take $5,500 in 4 months when someone finally decides it is their dream bike and they can't live without it in their garage.

Yeah, the ask is a little stupid, not gonna lie. If I added on all the parts to my bike by msrp, that'd add on 3500$ worth of stuff...basically it's gonna be at least half the msrp of the parts, and hats if they're in great condition. Don't be unrealistic, nobody's gonna buy that.

I built my 2013 reign x from a frame only a warranty frame with no headset and no rear shock. Have a CCDB coil on it, fox float 36, cane creek headset, blah blah blah and have about 4700 into my build. Thats including buying my frame. I thought the 9500 was a lot when i first saw it also.
