Proper DJ frame size for 6"?

Hey guys, I've been doing a fair bit of research on height vs frame size, but I haven't been able to find consistent information about frame sizing specifically for DJ bikes. I'm 6 ft tall - what frame size should I be looking for?
Thanks in advance!

23" top tube would "probably" be perfect.

Large.

In general:

Small -- 21.5" actual top tube
Medium -- 22"
Large -- 22.5"
XL -- 23"

"Actual" top tube measured center to center along top tube:

"Reach" (some people call "cockpit") is actually the most informative m[/P]easurement for D[/P]J, because where you sit is irrelevant, and seat tube angle changes will throw off the actual top tube measurement comparisons. Many companies don't publish a "Reach" number, though. Transition does.

"Effective top tube" is the horizontal line at the top. It measures to where the seat would be if it was at that height.

cmc4130 you have the best replies. It"s crazy how often the same questions is ask that you have built these answer templates to explain. Granted the last guy was , I think, 6'3" but the answers the same.

Great job and an amazing demonstration of patience and understanding. Any moment now, I expect a question about bottom brackets to be asked. hehe!

heh, thanks. you know, one thing i've noticed is people sometimes say newbs should use the search function of pinkbike--but it's actually not very good. if i want to find something in the pinkbike forums, i go to google and write "pinkbike . . . [whatever]."

and one thing i've learned about Google is that pages that are linked to a lot of other links get much higher placement in search results. also, if i paste in four other links on the same topic into a post, google starts to figure out that they're related. so now, most of the time, if you type something like "dirt jumper bottom brackets," the top result is one of these pinkbike threads, with like 4 other pinkbike threads below it.

getting good knowledge about dirt jump mtb's out there seems needed, because it's kind of an overlooked genre, both by the mtb world and the bmx world. i grew up in skateboarding and bmx and magazines were like bibles; people put a lot of work packing the whole culture into them. now, i barely look at bike magazines (and dirt jump mtb's don't even have a specific magazine), but i kinda miss the dense information that was in them. it's pretty cool that now with good websites, riders can sometimes be even more informed than people in bike industry. Cool

there is no perfect size. You're around my height and i've rode really short like a 21.5 to a longer 22.5 and always found i just adjusted to them. On a bmx i've rode a 20.5 and liked it but then rode a 21 and been ok with it aswell. i'd say as you're gonna be running probably a 26", i'd get what ever length the ns soda slope uses. That is currently what i'm riding and it feels spot on. Of course you need to take into account the other geometry angles like chainstay length but honestly unless you go below a 21 or above a 22.5 i think you'll be fine. You can always get a longer or shorter stem to fine tune it. Just remember it's all personal preference.

bump - fixed links. pinkbike doesn't allow hotlinking to a lot of other photos anymore, so i've been saving them as pinkbike photos.

Im 5,11 and stuck between getting a medium or large gt labomba which size would you recomend?

Can't comment on the proper size, but I just got a long PBJ feels good on dirt jumps, but tried a friends NS Majesty (which is a fair bit shorter) at the pump track and that felt much better for that than my PBJ. If I was buying again, I'd go slightly shorter, but still happy with my long bike. (I'm a shade over 6ft tall)

I also just got a PBJ—Long.

Note that compared to Transition’s prior dirt jump model, the Trail or Park, the Small PBJ has a similar Effective Top Tube and Reach as the Large Trail or Park did.

Transition made the PBJ longer in the front, to keep up with their Enduro and Trail bikes which also became longer in the front.

I'm the same height and went with the L over the M after riding both around a little. As was mentioned earlier you sometimes get a better pumper with smaller and a little more jumping stability with larger ones.
