I ran a old fox 32 van on my 4x bike and then my jump bike for years and it never snapped, although by the end the damping was ducked and it did make some worrying creaking noises. It was pretty flexy as well

I had a 32 float that had as much flex forwards and backwards as it did travel.

Don't do it.

Waaaaay back I got a 32 van and lowered it successfully it was a great fork, sold it got a 36 van did the same thing. I was one of the only guys around who was able to get the Van's to work properly lowered. In the end I switched it up to a 36 float.

What bar length would you guys recommend for someone just starting out that wants to learn barspins and other tricks?

Definitely nothing super wide. 740mm is about as wide as I'd go but you could definitely go down to 710 or 720 if clearing your knees is a real issue.

710mm (or 28") is max I would ever ride. had 740mm for awhile and hated it.
