Cannondale Freerider Breaks his leg While on Vacation at the XGames in Aspen
ASPEN, CO USA—While vacationing from his pedals, Aaron Chase went down riding a board vs. his signature ride from Cannondale.“Apparently he was riding trees at Aspen Highlands, caught an edge on a cat-track and slid into a tree, breaking his femer,” Says Kara Chase. “He underwent a successful surgery immediately where he received a Titanium Rod and screws.”
“I usually prefer riding hardware as opposed to wearing it,” said Aaron, who’s spirits were up, not surprisingly and already giving the nurses and doctors a hard time.
The doctor who performed the surgery was the same one that repaired Brian Deagan last year. The Ace has already undergone 2 sessions of physical therapy and is already walking upstairs with crutches. Doctors expect a full recovery within 8 weeks, after which he’ll be doing some light riding.
Aaron wanted to thank all of his sponsors for the continued support: Cannondale, Red Bull, Fox Riders Co., Manitou, Maxxis, DT Swiss, Shimano, SDG and Oakley.
Special thanks to Jamie at Red Bull for being there non-stop since the accident.
In a related story, Cannondale’s Matt Jewett, who signed Aaron back in the day, also suffered a broken leg from a skiing accident a week prior.
Maybe these guys should stick to pedaling.
