Custom Pink Intense 951 - We have a winner!

Apr 12, 2012
by Tyler Maine
Win this bike.

The initial goal was a humble one and it was beyond mind blowing to see the readership here at Pinkbike step to the plate for this fundraiser. Over 1400 donations, totalling $33,340.00 were contributed to the battle against breast cancer.

To thank all those that contributed in the battle, prizes were drawn at random. The winner of the Custom Pink Intense 951 is Patrick Culpepper and this was his reaction:

bigquotesFirst off I just want to say I am freaking out about winning this bike, it's a total surprise for me. Never in my wildest dreams would I think of actually winning this amazing completely decked out ride from Intense and Shimano. I saw the add on Pinkbike a week before the contest was done and saw that the money was going to a great cause and there was a chance to win a new bike in it, so why not? Little did I know one week later I would be receiving this email. I still cant believe it. I am a 22 year old from Columbus Georgia and have grown up riding mountain bikes starting when I was about 11 years old. As of now I am studying industrial design at the Savannah College of art and design in Savannah Georgia, with the hopes of graduating and starting a career in designing bike frames. my whole life is based around mountain biking. I know that breast Cancer is a huge epidemic that tears families apart by taking mothers, daughters, wives, and friends. it is a very devastating condition that thousands are affected by, and we are glad to help with the donation given. Although my family and I are very blessed to not have been affected by this terrible disease. As of now I continue to mountain bike every chance I get. I mostly ride downhill and freeride, making trips to Whistler almost every summer and back home every chance I get to ride the amazing trails me and a small group of riders have been continuously building for the past ten years. My current bike is a Scott voltage 10, but it looks like I will soon be riding a much better one. I think it is great what Intense, Shimano, and everyone else who was involved has done with this donation raffle, and I am sure much was raised. Thank you for this, it is a dream come true and the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me.

He could give the money made from it to charity....double win!
  • 50
keep the voltage too (unless you do donate it)! Theres no rule that says you can't have two bikes!... plus the voltage is a fun little bike in comparison, different style. Anyways congrats on the win, and to everyone involved for the successful fundraiser for cancer.

i second the notion to sell the bike and then donate the money to this charity, its the least he could do for getting such an epic bike. i'd donate my trek fuel in a heartbeat if i won this bike as i have friends who have been affected by this disease.

My family has been directly affected by breast cancer. Thankfully, thanks to the great treatment, she made a full recovery. Thanks to everyone out there who donates to such a worthwhile cause Smile

I hope he is small or we might just see him putting all the bling bits on his voltage, I was dreaming last night that I had won the bike for my girlfriend who's mother just had a run in with the disease. Thank you Pink Bike and well done Patrick.

Contests like this are so awesome, it's a great way to generate funds and awareness at the same time. My wife who is also a mountain biker has had late-stage cancer for 14yrs now. We've had our share of challenges along the way but she keeps fighting. Because of funding like this that research is able to be done to advance the fight against this disease. Congratulations all around to the winners and to those that donated. I hope we see more contests like this.
