"The new Ffowndri skills area and bike park is a fantastic new facility at Coed y Brenin. It's ideal for beginners just getting in to the sport right through to experienced, skilled riders with something to challenge all everyone. It's split into 4 areas. Start off in the Training Zone to learn those core basic skills that will help you progress, give you confidence and make your riding more fun.

Not sure which of the 8 trails to ride at CyB? Not sure what grade rider you are? Or just not sure how the trails at CyB compare to elsewhere? Then head to the Singletrack Zone where you'll clearly see the difference between the graded trails and examples of what to expect on the trails out in the forest.

Next up is the two bike park areas. In the Dropoff Zone you'll find the 'Lemmingstone'. A large natural rock wedge feature with multiple lines. Roll it, jump it, get creative and have fun with it!

The Frerride zone is essentially a jump park with 8 burned turns linking table tops, camel jumps, doubles, step ups/downs and hips. You can roll it all, learning how to rail the burns, pump the rollers or progress to manualling through the doubles and eventually getting some air under your wheels. So the Ffowndri is a place to learn new skills, get creative with your riding, play and just have fun!"

Love this area. Next time I go I'll have a proper play, only did a few runs last time. The amazing Coed y Brennin trails dragged me away from it. Best place I've ridden so far.

I spent that first really hot week of summer in Blaenau Ffestiniog, just down the road from here. With Coed y Brenin, Antur Stiniog, Penmachno and Llandegla all within easy driving distance I'd say it's one of the best riding areas in the UK and I'd definitely recommend a visit

The words big and large are bit misleading in this vid.but the area is good for those new to trail riding as you can get a taste of trail features without leaving the safety of the centre.More centers should have these areas .

You're defiantly right, there are no super hucks ect but its a great place to warm up and have some fun on.

Worth taking a hardtail here in my opinion, i had a lot more fun on my little ns street bike with slicks than i did on my xc bike, the pump track runs a bit slow so it gives you a bit more boost to get over the jumps.

That looks ace. Every town, city needs a skills area. Better spend of cash than 30km of single track which is easier than the free natural riding around.

went there with my 11yr old son in the summer, we had a great day out, we usually do the red routes but this time we just did the blue minor tor trail and skills area, it was easy riding but a lot of fun and laughs all day,

I think its a good idea. but for real skills training for brenin you need to practice your climbing. some monster hills.

As my mates keep pointing out, so I keep reminding them that human skin is in fact waterproof so man up! :-) living over here in flatland we have to take every opportunity we get come rain or shine!

You are going to have a blast. So you going up Snowdon? Which path are you going to use?

I live in North Wales so those trails are close to me

Pushing up the Llanberis path and coming down the Ranger. Seems to be the most popular route. I've walked up and down every path on that hill over the years but never ridden it, so its finally getting knocked off the to-do list!
Have you done Cadair Idris? Another one I'd like to try.
