Halo BDS Round 5 Bringewood, Ludlow.

Steve Peat your race winner

It had been more than several years since a National had been to Bringewood Forest near Ludlow, the venue is well used by Pearce Cycles who run the best regional series in the U.K so a welcome return to see the venue back on the National calendar. Dave Pearce had worked hard ensuring the track was upto spec by adding a few more jumps, lumps and berms. Si Paton and his taping crew worked their magic and added in several welcomed line choices at various sections down the track taking away in part that local advantage.

Fair to say it rained a little on Saturday.

Practice started a few minutes earlier than scheduled and ran straight through until 18:00. The only interuptions came with thunder and lightening warnings in the distance around lunchtime which were quickly followed by multiple down pours of biblical proportions. Wild talk of 15 runs was the reported record but never confirmed.

Sunday was a whole different ball game with blue skies and a light breeze from the crack of dawn meant the track and maybe more importantly the car park would dry out. Many delayed getting that first run down to watch the fun and games in the parking field. Temporary road mats were laid down to minimise the carnage which did have some effect.

Seeding cracked off at 11:00 with each rider then progressing to one race run at 14:00. An ever drying track soon saw Gee Atherton lead seeding with the fastest time of the day at 2:33.9 some 1.2 seconds faster than Joe Smith with Steve Peat on a 2:35.448 some 1.5 seconds behind. For the race run Gee was last down and 0.5 seconds up at the split which was located at the end of the open section under the watchful eye of Andrew Cooper, just before the table tops. Gee crashed out further down the track and came acoss the line having lost almost six seconds.

he didn't bother showing up for his 2nd place podium at the welsh champs the other weekend either... he's a good racer but he could at least support local races a bit more by actually turning up to the podium.
stoked for peaty winning though, that guy just doesn't quit does he?!
