Pearce Cycles without any shadow of a doubt is the top race series in England.
They actually sold out of all five rounds within one week of entries opening. How good are they? Well they even guaranteed us sunshine and as promised they delivered as you can see here...First off congratulations to Steve Walker aka the Butcher who was absent from racing whilst his good lady was popping out another daughter.
Secondly, another absence was Pete Yates aka the Racoon. Currently sat in hospital having bone marrow tests.
Thoughts and prayers with you from us all on good news and a speedy recovery.

Josh Hodgetts 2:24 those roots were a nightmare to negotiate
Friday night the wind got up and it rained cats and dogs. Now I only knew this second hand from big Steve Collins who had parked his big motor home over night. I luckily managed to sleep snug and warm at home in a big bed with the Fiance and Hensley both to keep me warm. Next race please can someone bring him a bone or a little treat?

Saturday morning and a dry sunny day greeted all, hopefully the sign of things to come? Let's see... The track however was a little greasy to say the least, it was slipperier than a wet eel up the top section.

Edward Ballard 2:32 on the bottom twisty and technical part of the course.
Therefore always a good idea to let the kids go up and scrape it off before you descend. Tyre choice was Maxxis High Rollers, will we all be riding the new Michelins in 2010 if they are the same price as Maxxis? Do the young kids these days even know any other rubber companies besides Maxxis? Please don't say Kenda...I was riding Geax offerings that day. Has Peaty got a tyre sponsor yet? Word was he was out the week before riding Geax then also testing Hutchinson.

Nick Emerson 2:48 Manualling those short table tops which were real hard to squash, so easy to over jump to flat.

The track used was the bombhole track which is a riders dream, tight and technical at the top, plenty of deep bermed out and eroded corners littered with exposed roots. Step down jump across the road, then a big step down into a step up straight into a set of doubles that all come faster to you than a speeding Japanese Bullet Train. Open section next, plenty of lines, cut down tree stumps and some fine powdery stuff called dust??

Superfly 2:33
Then into the trees and off the brakes on a natural roller coaster of whoops to pump and manual, jump and pump through. The last woods are great, even if your calves and arms are starting to pump. More tight and twisty tricks before you wind her up like those 70's Evil Kneivel Motorbikes and launch the big 32ft long stepdown-table top and cross the line!

Manchester based Ginger Ricks Mechanic Service: Rick Keates who learned his trade under the wings of Andy Kyffin, Steve Peats ex-mechanic will be offering a free mechanic service at all Pearce races, not the last one though as he's off to get married. He gave my bike a pre-race service and fine tune and she now runs smooth as silk. He is a fully qualified cytech mechanic, call for a quote on 07921 063 538, you will not be disappointed.

How Will could stand on the podium knowing he beat the other two by not much was a disgrace. Word was he even threatened to take their dinner money off them. Perhaps he could pick on someone his own size next time?

Ballard's having a Giraffe! Look at that time, not only 10 secs up but how quick. Weston slipped from 2nd on his first run and left the door open for Williams to squeeze on through by just half of a second.

Heath on the Giant this year, Edge not too far behind though these two were definitely left the pack chasing. Mather took home a nice prize from Alistair at Trail Addiction with a free French Alpine holiday for having the 25th fastest time of the day (First run). Next race it will be awarded to 50th place.

Cobb was 5secs off Harvey run 1, pressure on he made it count, now all he needs is a lift to the Mega from Essex. Old boy Hodgkinson in Vets and still on the pace, good work fella. Brennan in fourth, perhaps the birth of his first baby, a son Jake? Meant zero sleep, hence fourth place for him.

No sixth place again for me, right down the field after a front brake cable incident. After 100 practice weekends on the trot, ex Cannock World Champion makes third. That's it for Derry though, he's blown.. List was up run one, then let it slip last corner run two and Williams squeezed through for the win.

Reading is a great rider, anyone else out there that rides an Ellsworth fast, or even rides an Ellsworth? Maller 2hundreths behind on board the Trek. Please take a moment to wish his brother Jamie - 2008 British National Youth Champion a speedy recovery after he snapped his leg out riding the other week. Marshall in third, always cool as a cucumber.
