For me, this video represents the beginning of a couple of things: the start of Spring here on the North Shore, and also my first foray into the world of video. Shot over the course of about four hours one Sunday in March, on classic 'Shore trail, "Ladies Only"
Thanks to Darcy Turenne for riding sketchy, slippery trails and Laura Gill and Danielle Baker for helping out.
Well, it is called 'the beginning'.. we all have to start someplace.. and in this case, it a much better first pass at a video than I'd probably produce. beautiful shots, just need to dial up the action for the crowd here on PB.
You don't need 60' jumps and sick backflips down a 40' drop to make a great video, but a little more speed would have been nice. That or a longer video that leads to something I guess. It kinda looks like it's about to escalate to something... And then it ends.
I don't doubt that this Dan Barham fellow can make a terrific video - if this is his first attempt then he's off to a great start. The shots were all tastefully composed and well framed - he just needs a little nudge along on storyline.
Thanks for the comments guys. I probably should've made it clearer - this video was meant as a teaser for what's to come. Subsequent pieces will definitely focus on story and riding a lot more heavily.
alright i'm sick of these "artistic" 1 min videos man.... it shows 30 seconds of riding and those are in super slow mo..... that makes it like 10 seconds of actual riding.... completely pointless video imo.... i hope danbarham has something good coming up....
Good eye but it has too much rack focusing and macro shots. I like to see more of the "action" in videos rather than artistic views. Artistic views are good every now and then throughout a video but you shouldn't have them compiling the entire video. Keep it up though man!
The shot.through water where the wheels rolling on planks could barely be seen was so cool!! Great start, Ive always been a big fan of your stills! Cant wait to.see more.
Darcy is one good looking gal aye... Vid was pretty anti-climactic and reminded me more of a comercial then a "riding vid" but then maybe that was the point???
Great edit! :-)
& i'm referring to dan in those neoprene waders.
Not much of a middle or ending though..
