Can't wait to see the boys throw down. I hope we still can see some great runs despite limited practice due to wind a rain. I hope emil can handle the pressure and take the win.
Every slopestyle events feels kind of indistinguishable these days. They're all essentially the same course with the same riders throwing the same tricks.
Doesn't make the riding less impressive. Just makes it less exciting to watch.
Couldn’t agree more. So repetitive. But pinkbike just deletes comments saying otherwise.
This event is pretty controversial here in NZ due to our border closure. They took 70 isolation spots, from actual citizens to create some content that is forgotten about immediately and the big dogs didn’t even come. So who cares?
@coadymacmillan: every slopestyle event there's moaning here that the riders all do the 'same' tricks or it's spin to win etc. Which I think is a load of rubbish.
I agree in that perhaps it's their lack of knowledge of what is actually happening, that is making it boring for them.
@gnarnaimo: that pretty much drives the point home. If a viewer has to know the natural spin direction of every rider to appreciate what they're watching, it means the tricks have become so obscure that only a tiny fraction of the population cares anymore.
Slopestyle had it's moment, but that moment has passed. If you don't believe me, look at the number of comments in here, and then look at the number of comments on a slopestyle replay from a decade ago.
@toast2266: There's plainly more people into this sport and on this website than there was a decade ago. Alot more people new to the sport who don't really know what's going on in it.
@gnarnaimo: I'm saying that more people cared about slopestyle a decade ago. Back then, there'd be hundreds of comments on a thread like this. Now there's barely any comments - no one cares anymore. Because every slopestyle comp is essentially the same now.
Man these delays are killing me, I'm so hyped for the riders today, hope they stay safe from the wind, and the course isn't too wet. Hoping for the best!
@coadymacmillan: jumping the shark means to go on for long enough to become a joke.
Event has a pretty soft line up, big boys aren’t in it. They took 70 spots from MIQ, leaving 70 citizens unable to get in the country.
You’ve got a DH track that is being ridden on plenty of trail bikes. You’ve got people riding dual slalom on their enduro bikes. Like it’s just trying so hard to fulfill some content obligation. Like this just seems a shambles.
Meanwhile, just remember that everyone who crashes in their first run will play it safe and not be able to be competitive in their second run… and everyone who didn’t crash in their first run will try to do something too big in their second run, and crash out. It’s how the format works these days!

Ignorance is not always bliss it seems.

It’s just all oppo, reg spins that look the same too.

It's all the top slope riders from across the world and they did amazing runs for podium.
What world are you in?
