Course Preview Video: EWS Whistler 2018

Aug 10, 2018
by UCI Mountain Bike World Series

Round six of the Enduro World Series is about to go down on Whistler's hallowed trails. The annual pilgrimage to Crankworx to race some of the most iconic trails in the sport is always one of the most anticipated races of the year. This year's event will see the riders take on five epic stages this Sunday in what is sure to be one of the most dramatic races of the year. Ric McLaughlin had to skip this round, so who better to accompany Chris Ball on the course preview than Whistler local Tristan Merrick?

let me break it down for you then since i've ridden it 15+ times in the last couple years. stage 4 is a mellower ride for the most part, with the exception of the first 400m which runs loosely fall line. after that, lots of pedally cross fall line benched sections, options to take high or lines on those sections, and if you pedal at the wrong times you're gonna be banging your toes off roots. a couple steep corners then a bit of an uphill fire road sprint into a very fast flatter woods section, a couple fast corners then some tighter but still able to keep speed switch back corners and you're done.

really fun trail, really hoping this weekend doesn't tear it to shreds too badly.
