Date Announced for Red Bull Rampage 2023

Aug 3, 2023

Props to Robert for making a splash at his first Rampage. His style was incredible.

Red Bull has announced that the 2023 edition of Red Bull Rampage will take place on October 13, 2023. They've also confirmed that there will be 18 mountain bike athletes descending upon the steep desert landscape of Southwest Utah, the same number as last year.

The contest format will remain unchanged for 2023, with riders and their crews having four days to build their lines followed by a rest day, and then four practice days, before the big showdown.

Like last year, the event will be streamed live exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S., and on Red Bull TV in all other countries. However, the complete event will be available on-demand on both ESPN+ and Red Bull TV in all countries following the competition. On October 22, viewers can also tune-in to a 90-minute highlight show on ESPN (as opposed to last year's 2.5 hour condensed show).

For fans looking to attend the event in-person, tickets will go on-sale via the Red Bull Rampage website at a later date, to be confirmed.

bigquotesThe inaugural Red Bull Rampage was held in 2001, and last year we celebrated 21 years of Red Bull Rampage. Since then, 16 different events and 10 different winners have earmarked their place in the history books. This year, viewers can expect an enhanced broadcast experience with upleveled technology and new voices sharing their perspective on the sport.Red Bull Rampage

ESPN+ thinking they’re going to make money off of us.

All of us, saving that one month free trial of a VPN subscription until October.

Can’t see many people waiting till the 22nd for 90 min of highlights instead of watching live on redbull on the 13th
  • 7 10
@Barrywillox: Or you can watch the full replay the following day as the article clearly states..........

@jmcleod66: Yeah. This must be your first time. Hi, welcome.

@scott-townes: Nah… been here since 2010. Don’t want to risk seeing live highlights on insta before I actually watch it. Why do you care so much? Are you secretly an insider for ESPN or something?
  • 5 3
@jmcleod66: So you can't avoid instagram or other social media for a single day? LOL, you've got bigger problems to worry about if that's the case.

@scott-townes: says the one getting butt hurt on a pinkbike comment section

@jmcleod66: That's the mature response I expect from someone who can't avoid social media for a single day. Sheeesh

Please less corporate filler than last year. I had some friends over who had never seen it before and was having a hard time explaining how there is usually just more riding and less bs.

 Awkward
  • 21 0
What about "exclusively on ESPN+" gives you any hope of that?
  • 4 5
Have them over for the replay the following day and skip the "corporate filler". Problem solved, brah.

Last year was weird. Being in Canada we got to watch it on RedBull TV and there seemed to be excessive filler between riders including the hard-to-interpret 3D course previews, and that was on top of obvious further delays for commercials on ESPN+. The pauses really sucked the energy out of the whole affair. Hopefully the pace will be a little more brisk this time.

So they learned nothing from the mess of last year?

It's pretty simple really....

Day of live broadcast... cut out all the BS. Just get through the riding. Make sure every rider has time for 2 runs... safely... without battling the afternoon winds that ALWAYS happen in the high desert.

Take all your graphs and fluff and put those into the rebroadcast.

No commercial breaks. No 45 minute time outs. Get guys going and keep them going.

@buk50: Clean image? What do you mean? 4 20?

He was there last year? and did some dumb shit with a rail. Shouldn't be allowed back on that alone.

Really glad to have gone in person to see it, the scale really doesn’t come through online. But after weird wind delays, and other organizational faff at the event I don’t think I’d go again.

yeah, I went a couple times and walked the sites after the event. the sheer gnarliness of that terrain can't be comprehended until you stand on it. some of it you can't even hike up safely, you would need to climb with a rope. even the lower hits that look sort of boring on screen are bigger than most things I've ridden at lift served DH bike parks.

If you're heading out there for spectator convenience, you're heading out there for the wrong reasons. You will not be missed, buddy.

 Why are wind delays weird?

Second and third place got robbed.

1st thru 5th is definitely wrong.

Keep ESPN away from events like this
  • 1 1
Seriously..they'll probably have a segment on some woke shizzle.

aside from the big meal we have on rampage, we learned to cope with all the fillers. theres food to check on or cook, bowls to go out back and smoke, joints to roll, all the stuff that happens around a big day. but we want every rider to go home healthy for fucks sake!

I remember texting family members to remind them to get tickets the moment they went on sale back when this was a free ride event. Now, I may watch the replay a week later if I want to be angry with the judges. I’ll see if I have nothing better to do the week after.

 friday the 13th?! no thanks
  • 4 0
I'd rather drive there than pay ESPN.

Rampage is done. I want to be excited but I’m not. If old Rampage was punk, new Rampage is pop punk. Make it freeride again or within 2 years someone will be competing on a hardtail with no front brake.

As long as they have the flippy, spinny, freestyle cameraman this year, I'm all in!!
  • 3 0
Still waiting to hear how the pizza scored

 STARK FOR RAMPAGE!
  • 2 0
No mention of whether it’s at the same location…? Need to relocate really - or everybody just rides same lines .
  • 2 0
At least it's not UCI and the crappy coverage of WC DH and World Champs.
  • 4 3
Sloperage is all the rage these days.
  • 1 0
 Yup its exciting!

 Same site as last year?

 C-Dog for rampage!
  • 1 0
Hopefully they allow more spectators than last years debacle.

Everything about last years was a mess. I really hope they learned something. They should be having wrap ups with the riders after every one of these so they can refine it as they go. But they don't. Especially now. Big ego. Be rad if they listened to people like T-Mac who don't complain about anything but had some great things to say after the last one.

I bet 100 boccs on the judges royally fucking up this!!
