DH Final Results: US Open of MTB 2018

Bas Van Steenbergen rips through some fresh dirt on the steepest section of track.

350 miles south of Mount Sainte Anne and across the border in Vermont, the 2018 US Open went down at Killington Mountain. An absolute downpour overnight left racers with a technical mudslide of epic proportions. A course to rival any World Cup track, crashes were aplenty, and fans were in for a carnage treat. Those few who made a clean run down from the top of the gondola topped the podium, but many were left to start dreaming for next year, and perhaps a Killington World Cup in the future...?

Great work Neko. Isak running with the big boys. Sean Leader for the best sponsor.

She's in traction right now FYI

@bizutch: That's no good. I saw the DNF.
  • 2 2
@bizutch: @freeridejerk888: one of you says someone ended up in traction, the other said everyone got down in one piece. Which is it please?
  • 3 1
@iamamodel: Amanda Batty wrecked herself two weeks ago and was a DNS for this race, not DNF.
  • 2 1
@iamamodel: She was injured at Snowshoe. She didn't race at Killington.
  • 2 1
@iamamodel: she wasn’t hurt here, I think it was a few weeks ago at nationals. She was a DNS not a DNF. Probably on the sheet because she registered to race but obviously wasn’t there.

Odd that Amanda Batty even registered (though DNS) for the event at Killington because back in December she stated she'd never race, ride or visit the resort due to unfair payouts at Rails 2 Riches. Who knows, maybe because Killington was just the host, not the title sponsor. Would have been cool to see her put down rubber on the mountain regardless.

Yeah Jackson! Met this guy en route to Andorra WC, great dude with a super supportive mom!

Hope @Hanson207 aka Seth Hanson lands a full ride next season. He is killing it and working his butt off. If he's not on his bike, he's asleep.

 Long course or slow course?
  • 6 0
 Nearly 2 miles long.

Both it looks like. I just googled and clicked on "Neko Mulally course preview 2018 US Open DH". Really fresh natural track, lots of grass, lots of armored rock sections, man made rock gardens, and vegetation.
  • 5 0
Long, greasy, and technical! Lots of carnage. Super fun to spectate, and a great event for the USA!

@LoganKM1982: from my understanding its all new besides the one rock garden up towards the top.
  • 1 0
 @mfrdhracer: you are correct

This was a next level track with unreal conditions. It's amazing everyone got down in one piece. Was a really amazing event as well too
