What's really annoying about this new format is that this starting lineup would have made finals amazing.
I haven't been totally disappointed in what I've watched so far, but I've only watched the free content. I feel Cedric has been pretty harshly criticised. He's a genuine legend, and if you haven't watched him nearly bleed to death trailside from a femoral artery bleed, you should. He's tough af. Rob took years, and lessons, to learn his craft.
It is brilliant seeing the juniors get actual airtime, but they need it to be better.
It wouldn't, sorry. The finals would be a dud to watch as someone mid pack would lay down the winning run and most in the final 10 wouldn't have a shot at beating it. What would have been cool is seeing riders you don't normally see on the live feed race, except you will because the whole 60 are shown.
New format has it's it's downsides but showing the whole 60, getting riders air time that otherwise wouldn't get it and still getting a dramatic final (Leogang usually is a solid watch) is a plus for me on the new format, which i've otherwise been negative on.
@tuhuramtb: I believe it's National rider, so someone who's come in under the national racing flag rather than a team. I think Louise Ferguson did it last year for some races
@tuhuramtb@theCBK: Yip. Designates that they were entered by national federation under the allocation they have for riders who don't have enough UCI points to be eligible directly. Technically race as "national team" athletes... although in most cases are racing independently at the events
@tuhuramtb: Oh... and the listings (N, Nch, CCh, WCh) on the start lists are more for the benefit of the commissaires at the start line... so they can check those riders are wearing the correct jerseys/kit that the rules require
@Roost66: depends who it is the top 20 riders including the top 10 from last year and the 10 next best riders from this year are protected for the semi final. The top 3 from last year and the top 10 from this season are protected for the final. Minaar for example is protected for the semi because he finished Top 10 last year but isn’t protected for the final because his result at Lenzerheide put him out of the top 10 this year. Jackson and Jordan are protected for both at the moment but if they drop out of the top 10 they lose it for finals and the top 20 the they lose the semi protection as well. For riders like them it makes it important to go after the quali and semi final points as well. The only riders guaranteed protection for both the semi and final for the whole season are the top 3 from last year - Loris and Finn plus Amaury when he is back
