Video: Fully In The Moment with Sven Martin in 'Time Frames'

Sven Martin is a renaissance man of aggroism. He is one of the most widely published journalist of mountain biking in recent times and works hard to expose the wildlife in the zoo of World Cup racing. He freezes the world's fastest racers in extraordinary and historical moments.

Sven Martin

The effort Sven goes to in capturing and presenting these images is extraordinary and requires supreme skill and a rebellious commitment that borders on the maniacal. The World Cup week has a tortuous schedule for a photographer, and there are no do-overs. It’s a one-shot-one-kill kind of mission every weekend, so the pressure is immense. Which is why Sven’s double exposure is his quiet, family-oriented life in Molini, Italy with his wife, Anka and his daughter Ziggy. At the races he’s fully in the moment, at home he’s fully engaged in being present.

Sven Martin

This film attempts to expose the work of a World Cup photographer but also goes deeper to show what’s on the other side of the lens. This time the camera is flipped onto one of the most interesting, driven, serious and hilarious characters in mountain biking.

In this film Sven chose to ride a Santa Cruz Bullit ebike. Go check it out here.

The word “legend” gets thrown around a lot in the Mtb world, but Sven truly is a f*cking Legend.

Without any doubt. Since he began admiring skate photographers, I will say, he is the J. Grant Brittain of the MTB world.

Ummmm, where is the 'MUST WATCH' from the front page title?
This fully deserves it.
This and the Sleeper recap film are the two best films put out in a loooong time.

Seeing Sven and the community of photographers chase the riders throughout the day at an EWS event took my appreciation for race photos to a new level. Their commitment, determination, and straight out hustle to get the people what they want deserves a hell of a lot more recognition! Its great to see this highlighted

Where do his photos go these days? Are they just commercial photos for Santa Cruz?

There used to be these awesome race slideshows from Sven, Boris, and others on Vitalmtb but they've stopped making them years ago and I really miss them. Used to be better than any video or even the broadcast of the race.

As a working photographer in another genre I fully appreciate the hard work and hustle that it takes to stay focused, relevant, PAID and producing good work.
Most people think it's a "hobby" or a dream job but like anything else it takes dedication and hard graft to survive.

Sven is a great eye and voice for the Mountain Bike World, I wish he could be more listened by the UCI. Thanks for all your hard work! Cheers from Chile!

Love how Sven has now become a secondary part or personality of the racing as he pops up in so many rider vids, his banter with riders is always enjoyable. He's obviously held in high respect by the worlds best. Have always wondered how photogs generate enough income? Must be well into 6 figures $ outlay in travel/accom/ living on the road to be at all these events and do his job. Kudos to Sven for making it work and being a family man to boot. Looks like he can ride too, cracked up at the old skater boy pics. Great vid. Keep doing what you do Sven

I remember meeting Sven last year at CUBO beach bar in Sanremo Italy. At first I didn't notice it was him until he asked me if I rode with Albi's crew the day before at Molini. It was an honor to meet him and his family in Italy. Such a rad dude and for us South Africans a true legend in this amazing sport. Keep up the good work and enjoy the surf in the off season.

Met Sven some years ago @ Windham, he was up a tree, way up a tree shooting pics of the XC race. He's a righteous dude. Good to see him get the recognition he so much deserves.

And not a slouch on a bike. I remember him beating Andrew Neethling while on holiday back in the Cape riding a single crown bike in a local DH.

I had to take a second look at the title I thought it said "STEVE MARTIN". I'm like I didn't know Steve Martin rode mountain bikes. It kinda looks like him too.
