Well I agree ,but comparison was for the price of the tank , the frequent refill and blah blah contrary to an air compressor ..... Don't get me wrong , I know it from my profession , just said that is somewhat quite messy and expensive , but better for sure
Yeah, nitrogen molecules are smaller than oxygen... so it bleeds out faster. That's actually most of what bleeds out when you pump up your tires, the air we breath is 78% nitrogen.
Was about to point that, they are smaller molecules and a 78% of the air is nitrogen.
I guess they inflate the big mining rigs with it just because of thermal properties, and not the time it will stay inflated.
Just to clarify (I was not brilliant in chemistry but still love it) nitrogen is smaller, it affects pressure less because when heated it being smaller molecules can get more compressed? Just thinking about that it don't make sense, as 1 psi is 1psi, and doesn't matter what is the gas.
Well if you have or someone the time to explain why it works would be great
my truck tires are filled with nitrogen considering bike tires too. less o2 and h2 to turn to h20 and also maintains pressure better and less suseptable to temprature changes. it's also less likely to bleed out than oxygen.
The broad strokes of it are... Heat ads energy, energy increases the space between molecules, more space between molecules means the volume of gas rises, rising volume in a contained space results in higher pressure.
Nitrogen is less reactive to variations so pressure stays more consistent.
While it makes a great difference in forks and shocks. I wouldn't use it in a fork or air shock just due to the fact trail adjustments are a tad hard if you had to carry around a nitrogen bottle. When I rebuilt Motorcycle suspensions we used nitrogen in all the rear shocks on the motos.
You're doing something wrong if you're making adjustments that often. You really shouldn't be changing your air pressure in your fork or shock one it's correctly set unless you've gained or lost significant weight or the conditions are drastically different.
By the way, for what you use it? I know bikes, but never seen something this fancy
