Blackspire makes a guide with just a taco on it. I'll get that but I'm going to go without the slider and roller part

Have you tried it without? narrow/wide rings aren't the be-all and end-all.
I'd certainly never race without at least a top guide.

I never said they were. I've ridden my trail bike for months with the same setup so I feel confident in the fact that I won't need one. However if I find I'm dropping chains a lot then I will put one on.
