he cased it. apparently he didn't have time to check his brakes before he hit it, so he quickly checked them as he went. unfortunately, they slowed him down
its possible , because to most people other then bikers, that includes cops , how is riding yourt bike off a cliff any different from just jumping off a cliff ???
not necesarly, but the police were called out when that kid was apparently about to hit the jaw drop, and they stoped him and there was lots of shit about that . just because something is a "suicide attempt" , dont mean you want to kill yourself . if you are purposly doing something that has a high risk of death, that dont mean you want to die . if you are playing russian roulette , you have 1 in 6 chance of getting killed . but from the cops point of view , you have a loaded gun at your own head , and your intending on pulling the trigger . if your on top of a 60 foot cliff with your bike , you plan on landing safly and being big mr hero all over the internet / biking community . but from cops point of view , you could be some kid that got pushed around to much at school and is willing to jump and put your self out of your misury....
its funny how your fighting over why they sent Dave to jail, when they didn't.
quote: "The paramedics insisted on taking Dave on a two-hour ride out of the mountains to the hospital and the police didn't seem to mind since the only person potentially hurt was Dave. Released from the hospital with a partially separated shoulder, sore back, neck, and a severely bruised groin..." http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/that-watson-gap-jump-7785
i aint sayin he DID go to jail, im sayin in some jurisdictions he COULD have been . i aint every been to france , so i dont knwo what there cops are like . the law doesnt look at biking stunts the same way we bikers do .
i wasn't referring to your comment, but for example, the first comment. i realize he could have gone to jail, and find it kind of odd that they didn't take him away, especially considering the it was at Le tour de France
haha, bradyn16: i was in france with my mate last summer, we booted a can that was lying on the pavement, and 4 french police officers dived out of their car - guns drawn and locked right on my mates head. Ive never shaken so much in my life!
there was no jail time, CanadaDiscGolf is right. the officials didn't care cuz he was the only one who was potentially injured, so they just sent him to the hospital to make sure he was ok.
I know he fell off doing this, but I herad he did it the next year and landid that? is this true? well anywas at least he showed them roadies what true biking is (Y)
i guess, if he did get banged up for the 4 days [i havent researched it] it would be on the groundss that he endagered the safety of the other people, if he f*cked up and fell on them etc.
