You know of any demo days in the UK? I used to have a bottlerocket and I was disappointed with it so I'd like to get a ride on a TR250 before I buy! The bottlerocket was fun but I just didnt find it particularly rewarding to ride and it pedalled really badly (No doubt that was a little to do with the Halo SAS wheelset I had at the time though). If anyone has ridden one of these then gimme a verdict!

I'm not aware of any demo days as of yet. The frame is susposed to be released January/Febuary 2011. I would be best if you asked at your local Transition dealer, as they will have the most up to date infomation about the frames and any potential demo days Smile - I think it is safe to say though, this will ride ALOT better than a bottlerocket tup

i've ridden one and have owned a bottlerocket for years. it def pedals amazingly. if you've been on a tr450, it pedals similarly, just smooth but better because of less rear travel. it's just a great bike. i love tr450s though, and i chose to go tr450 again because i can still stick a single crown on it and it would work fine and i do own a bottlerocket. this can be an everything bike from dh to aggressive am. the 250 was incredibly smooth on dh trails though. just a great bike

How would you compare the 250 to the BR in terms of acceleration, weight, popping out of berms etc? I found the bottlerocket was so tiring to ride in terms of picking up and keeping speed...

I haven’t ridden a 250 yet, I have ridden the BR though and know it is sluggish to accelerate! I would expect that it has a lot better pedalling efficiency, resulting in it being quicker to accelerate Smile The frame without shock is just in 5Kg I think Smile

i really don't at all find the BR sluggish to accelerate. my sprints pretty easily. is your wheelset heavy? i have a light wheelset and it really gets at it. the 250 def has less pedal bob i assume bc of the rc4. it's just a bottlerocket of steroids. It won't be an amazing xc/light am bike, but really just a whistler killer. super nimble and jumps really well

I guess it all depends on the build, the few I have ridden I have been disapointed in as far as acceleration. Don't get me wrong, the BR is a great bike, thats why it is so popular! It's just that from the 450's I have ridden, I expect the 250 to be better than the BR tup I hope!

I cant decide whether to sell the DH bike for one of these, sell up and go with another DH frame like the new Turner DHR or keep the DH bike and work my arse off for a Black Market Roam... Too many nice new frames out!

I can't agree more with you, there are too many nice new frames out! As far as your frame choice goes, it really depends what you are going to riding most. A 6" platform frame setup up correctly can ride DH better than a poorly setup 8" platform. This could be raced at most UK DH races. It features adjustable Headangle, BB height and Wheelbase length. It also features 2 travel settings. This means that it can be setup up as a jumpy freeride bike or a plush DH bike Smile

I guess it all comes down to the price tag on the Black Market frame... And as much as I'd like a DHR the £2700 price tag seems a little overwhelming ontop of food, rent and bills...

The RRP for the Turner is certainly steep! Personally I would choose the TR 250 over the Roam, as the Tr's suspension platform has been proven in its desired discipline. As for the Roam, it has yet to prove it's competence for it designated discipline (Freeride and light Downhill).

The Roam is an AM frame, I just figured it'd be a tad lighter than the Transition and maybe a bit snappier on jumpy trails.

Good choice tup - I would say a small or medium, can't be a large! Smile
