It is close to a Tr 450 but the linkage is a bit different. Look to see a better close up or look on db's FB page for some good pics. Kyle Thomas used to ride for Transition and now has a engineering degree, so I am sure there is influnce there and the design is solid but not the same. @ Summit800, really, I have read a lot of reviews on DB's and yes I own a Sortie and Mission. But what reviews I've read are stellar. Whatca reading? I personally find Diamondback bike to be super nice and I have owned more bikes then most in a lifetime to compare. I just got a new 11 Mission 4 and it rips! Ride on....
I salute you for the well put together opinion on the bike and its suspension system. It's refreshing to see someone able to identify how the suspension works, what bikes use similar systems, but not scream that it's a total rip off.
had a diamondback xts moto for 3 months till it cracked... ive heard far to many storys about them cracking... hopefully theyll sort the headtube out on this one... was a great bike when it rode tho
Not a new design, but I'm sure DB will dial it nicely. Their knuckle box rides beautifully on the mission line. If they put the same effort into this it should rock. It already has one first place after all.
no offence but the knuckle box is probly the worst platform i have ever tried in my life..... ever..... and im not the only one to say that, even reviews are just killing the knuckle box
lol just noticed u own a bike with knuckle box. so dont mean to kill your rig bro! respect. just personally dont dig it. what ever floats your boat. hell i ride single pivot for a reason and many people hate single pivot. each to their own.
way to go summit800 hating for the sake of hating.. i agree with you, single pivots do work very well, and lots of riders put way too much value in over complicated suspension designs.. Knuckle box, if you have ever "really" ridden one. works very well and carries no shame... cheer up and enjoy MTBing.. there is not reason to Hate any bike period!!! BTW pick up the latest dirt rag and read about the Sortie 3..
Yeah, I have a 2010 mission. It's pretty sweet. A four bar design with more of the weight towards the bottom than most. I've never seen a bad review for a knuckle box based frame. Some of the earlier ones busted, but DB is awesome about replacing them.
If I could change one thing about mine I'd rake out the head angle a bit. I want a 66 instead of a 68. But you'll notice the 2011 goat has a 180 fork which does exactly that.
And as I said, the proof is in the pudding. I know it is the rider more than the bike, but as Sharples said this week, a better bike will make you faster and this bike already landed on top of the podium on it's first test race.
