i came to this a bit late but i hope you can still help me. im curious about how you liked the ccdb air versus the stock fox rear shock?
i just got the same frame but one of my friends with the ccdb coil seriously thinks i should get the ccdb air. any feedback would be greatly appreciated! thanks

Hey mate, to be honest I wouldn't get the DBAir for the bike. I've tried and didn't like it on there compared to the RC4... The RC4 is perfect, being spring the leverage of the suspension is designed for it. Perfect. The DBAir was fine over mild stuff but when the going got rough it ramped up too quickly. Cane Creek weren't entirely honest at first, but now they admit (agree) that basically the leverage ratio of the TR250 is designed for a spring shock, not air. So the DBAir is for sale! I learnt the lesson in Morzine (French Alps) where I'd ridden the bike twice before on the RC4, first ride on the DBAir I knew something wasn't right, struggled on, my riding was the worst it's ever been, tried every single setup from zero to medium compression, different air pressures etc, but just couldn't get the feel of the RC4. It's because a spring sits so well 30% into its sag, air is already starting to compress by then, so you're working against a harder and harder spring. I thought the DBAir was supposed to be linear but it's not, if you want linear air try the RockShox Vivid or maybe the BOS. To be honest, I'd stick to the RC4, it's quite simply one of the best shocks out there.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take your advice and stick with the rc4.

Cane Creek does a new sleeve for the DBAir to make it linear

Thanks buddy! It's going to have my 66 RC3 Ti which I love, but I've also some 888 RC3 Ti to whack on for pure downhill madness.

Nice. I've got the same bike. You are in for a real treat my friend. You can now know you are having more fun than anyone you ride with. Unless they have a 250 too...

Yeah, I heard they're amazing fun to ride so can't wait! Glad to hear you like yours!

@tetonlarry, can I ask you what settings you run yours in most of the time (travel and head angle, bb height and middle chainstay setting?). I was thinking about the 64 degree setting with the low 13.5" bb and 7" travel as I like the feel of a slack downhill bike, but is it still nice and nimble in this setting. I will experiment with different settings to get a feel for how it rides with different settings but interested to know what a fellow TR250 rider things of the different settings. Thanks!

Sweet mate , love the Transitions, cant wait to see it, Whats happening with the 88?
  • 1 0
Not sure yet mate, probably going to sell it, it'll be a virtually complete bike with the Totems Saint cranks etc, as have gone Sram on this build! Smile Will port the 66 RC3 Tis from the Norco and use the 888s for the Alps! Smile Also porting across the Codes from the Session. Otherwise Session will most likely go up for sale. Frown

Cannot wait mate, just hope it performs as I hope over those brake bumps out there.... Smile I get the feeling you may be a tad faster on your V10 carbon, but hopefully I'll be popping off everything in sight this time! Smile Rock on Morzine, and please stop raining! :\
