This is the best looking bike out there i think...by miles! Only thing bugs me are the rims, cant quite get in my head why not use factory wheel set like opium, or deemax (probably sponsorship) , with one of those it would be realy out of this world.
2 speedlights bounced off ceiling (too high up to really work well) 2 speedlights on bike at front and rear, and 2 speedlights in a large softbox over the bike from front. There wasn't enough room in the space to move the bike further away from the backdrop, so while lighting it separately was plan A, it wasn't really an option unfortunately...
Gamut just built their best chainguide yet !!! Anyone knows which hubs he's using ??? (Bontrager probably, but what's the model ??...) I just dig the fact that his bike has components that somehow sets it apart a little...sweet rig !!!
A couple months ago I seen a guy on seymour using a prototype blackspire guide that had a slider on it instead of a roller and he said it was quieter and had less drag than any other guide hes used before.. looked neat.. maybe thats the new thing!
Interesting. Going the Gamut or Straightline way this year. As long as I don't know the guide exist on my bike i'm alright with anything with the less drag.
I've been using an MRP G2 for a while. It is the same as an E13 LG1. While they look good, i would not recommend any of the taco style bash unless you have removable ISCG tabs...
@oceen245 have you ever bent your ISCG tabs? Or I guess you do got removable tabs.. havent had that problem yet, but I have been wondering about that.. ever bent your MRP backplate?
On the 951, the tabs are burly so the taco holder (backplate) is the one bending. On the other hand, on the M6, the tabs were on the thinner side so the 2 bottom ones were bending. I must add that the taco being on the inside is a plus and i rarely hit my basheguard unless i f*ck up my line.
Ian, seriously, this is your worst photo ever! Lack of space/equipment for this shot? And oh my what an aweful background... It would suit a pimped lowrider if it would be hanging straight at least.
The bike on the other hand... People would kill for that.
Yes would have been nice to have a fully equipped studio... Unfortunately the reality of it is that we had a bike that Aaron Gwin had to win a race on and that was still fairly secret, couldn't go parading it around or shooting it outside anywhere people would see it. The biggest space we had to shoot it in was a condo. And on top of that I had to fly to Mt. Saint Anne with a limited budget, paying an extra $500-$1000 to ship studio lighting equipment that we didn't have room to use anyway wasn't in the cards...
As for the background call it taste, I personally really like it. I don't like that moving the bike around on it pulled a bit out of straight alignment, but that's my only complaint really, otherwise I love the background. If it's good enough for a pimped low rider then it should be sick for this bike...
