the BMX contest had a big delay because of the rain. the last few runs was almost in the dark but a beautiful sunset and the reflection in the water gave me the chance to make one of my favourite shots ever.

This is an amazing POD no doubt, but I'm getting a bit sick o the same photographers getting chosen.... This photographer has had POD multiple times already in the past month. I mean no disrespect to the photographers, their work is awesome. It'd be good to see some others get selected however

I guess some of the best photographers often take the best pictures, but yeah I'd agree that there must be some (perhaps more original) shots from lesser known photographers. I guess because it's a daily contest it's much easier to just scroll through a pros albums and pick one than go hunting for something new

Have you actually looked through the recent POD list? I have given Ale 4 PODs this year - one of them a last minute decision because of Mark Weirs injury, because it was the best, most recent one of Weir I could find. Fact is that Ale is one of the most talented guys out there, as are the other photogs who regularly get PODs: Sterling Lorence, Margus Riga, Reuben Krabbe, Duncan Philpott, Simon Nieborak, Dave Trumpore, Lee Trmpore, John Wellburn and Sam Needham... If you look through the list, there are regularly new or less well-known photographers included. I follow around 100 different photogs who I feel are likely to produce POD quality material and keep a constant eye on the popular photos on the site to see what people are liking. But yes, certain photographers will always be picked regularly because they are producing outstanding photos regularly.

Injury has put me out of riding for the next 6 months, so I've been through many many pages of POD's lol and I do realise new photographers get added to the list. And like I said, I have nothing against these guys and I seriously respect their work. As a photographer myself I am completely baffled by some of the shots they can create because it certainly isn't easy.
Not sure why, but I feel a bit of disappointment on some POD's when it's the same guy again. And yes I understand not everyone producing high quality photos can be chosen since hundreds of good photos get put on the site each day and only one can be selected.
But meh, I get to see an amazing photo each day. Just felt like expressing my opinion a bit Smile

There are plenty of talented photographers out there, not seen this as POD yet though?

@skippy1 PODs, with occassional exceptions, are chosen more than a month in advance.

That will get POD in the future, no doubt about it. Such a wicked capture

wow.. re reading this, I sound like a bit of a dick.. Matt and Ale I appologise, I must've been having a shit day

They should do a separate POD for people that aren't professionals just decent pictures that get taken out on rides that don't have to be top notch pro stuff all the time Smile

That's utter nonsense. A good photographer can take stunning photos with a potato. A 1D or D4 doesn't magically transform you in Sterling Lorence.

Mate jog on you clearly didn't read what I put! I mean have a different thing that gives people that aren't professional photographers a chance! Just some more average things that show what people are getting up to or something yes some people may not like them but others may do it just gives people a chance!

You could even do a potato of the day feature or something!

Not to be rude but this comment brings back a past comment I made on pinkbike staff not editing their stuff I think you meant transform you into not to, I make this comment to point out again how little things like grammar and editing are important to our image in the outside world. I do agree the best shot should get the slot pro or not

No I meant what I said and speaking of grammar your comment makes no sense to me at all.
