Does fashion play too large of a role in mountain biking?

Fast is sweet. The pros are fast. If a pro (who is fast) wears X, then X looks fast and is therefore sweet. I am not nearly as fast as the pros, but I want to be, so I wear whatever they do, and it makes me feel fast and thus sweet. Smile

when i first read your comment i thought it was going to be followed by "is what a moron would say". i get the whole buying a bike because a pro has it and you want to be as fast as him/her but clothes make no difference. i think you enjoy spending allot of money on what is essentially over price and over hyped crap.

leave "fashion" to the pro's....."poser" comes to mind. I know one thing, 99% of the time there's a huge diconnect between how someone dresses and rides.

Unfortunately for many people, specially those new to mountain biking it´s all about good looks and fashion. As for me, I´ve had my share of top of the line gear in the 20 + years since I made biking my life style, but in the end I ride in jeans and sneakers just because I feel so comfortable that way.
