BetterRide

I founded BetterRide in 1999 and it has been quite an adventure over the last 25 years. I have coached 1,000s of riders from beginners to top pro racers like Ross Schnell, Mitch Ropelato, Cody Kelly etc.

Whoop Becomes Title Sponsor of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series
Well, I actually used one for about six months. The wrist strap didn't work well so they sent be a bicep strap which worked a little better. I would wake feeling tired, and it would be green, telling me I was fully rested. I would go out for a ride (even though my body felt tired), struggle, and go home. Other days, it was red, yet I felt great and would go on a big ride. Read The Scarcity Brain. Whoop is a company that exploits the way our brains are wired to get users addicted. In the same way slot machines are designed to be addictive.

Not only is wildly inaccurate (I used one for six months), but it's designed that way to become addictive by using what's called a "scarcity loop". This makes you check it constantly to see if you are rested enough to do the amount or intensity of exercise you planned on doing that day. Just listen to your body. It's not that hard.
