Please Don't Dumb Down the Trails
Glad you enjoyed the Western NC trails, and Asheville! I agree with you that too many trails are getting dumbed down and have argued that point extensively with local trail organizations. What I hear back from them is that the more vocal users are those who want more flow, and fewer challenging sections. Maybe those of us who appreciate technical sections need to speak up? That or wait for Mother Nature to return the trails to their original state. As for the trail tales video you mentioned, I really liked the video. Living in North Carolina I love the trails and am proud to see them get the exposure they deserve. It just felt to me that the video producers tried to make the trails sound more dangerous, or wild by talking about bears and snakes when to me the trails themselves are amazing and exciting on their own. I've seen dozens of bears in and around Asheville, but never while riding. Either way great podcast. Can't wait for the field test!

Video: Coming Together for the Trails After the Devastation of Hurricane Helene in 'Pisgah Magic - Trail Tales'
@Pdrenth: It almost felt like the video creator wanted to make the trails seem sexier, or more dangerous by featuring stories of wildlife encounters, and shots of a rattlesnake. The Trails are sexy enough imo.

@Pdrenth: true. My point is snake and bear encounters aren't as common as the video would have you believe. If the goal is to keep new trail users away mission accomplished.

Video: Coming Together for the Trails After the Devastation of Hurricane Helene in 'Pisgah Magic - Trail Tales'
@Gibbsatron: my "take"? Haha. Been riding Pisgah for years and have seen exactly one Copperhead, and two black bears (from a distance). This video made it seem like rattle snake / bear encounters are part of every ride.

Great video... one suggestion. If the goal is to highlight our trails to attract riders, and tourists - maybe lay off all the snake and bear talk?
