Highlights, Results & Analysis from the Cape Epic 2024 Stage 4
@Gnarcoticsanonymous: Glad you are pointing this out. It is an issue in the amateur class at every XC / marathon type event I have ever entered. In a single file line it only takes one mistake for a rider to stop a very large group.

Review: Specialized’s New Epic 8 - All the Speed You Need
@mm2344: True but the new Epic Evo is also the old Stumpjumper. Everything seems to be pushing up the travel range.

Review: Specialized’s New Epic 8 - All the Speed You Need
Great review, but I think the comparison to the prior Epic is a miss. This is the updated Epic Evo and will cater to the same customer base. The lite fast Epic race bike became the Epic WC....you know the one with the partially hidden shock. Down Country is the new XC.

The Pinkbike Podcast: Episode 199 - Whose XC Bike Is it Anyway?
PB is really missing Levy and Sarah Moore! This episode could have beneitted from someone who actually likes and uses XC/DC bikes.

The Pinkbike Podcast: Episode 196 - The Industry Ideas That Just Keep Coming Back
Prepare to hate. Levy invented down country so that we could have light bikes that descend decently. A 26lb 120-140 travel bike isn't crazy! A 36lb 160 ”trail bike” is crazy!

Video: 5 Value Bikes Ridden & Rated - Field Test Roundtable
The Field Tests are always awesome almost free content (I pay for Outside+, but still a good deal), but I agree with this critique. The script for prior field tests was working and this feels like the guys were made to film and edit their own footage in a week! The absence of an intro overview video, the loss of the impossible climb or the efficiency test, and the lack of footage to actually support the findings were all gaps. Are we seeing a new round of cost cutting or just a rushed project that got less love?

Check Out: BC Bike Race Edition
Levy isn't gone. He is tied up at Pivot designing the Grim Donut 3 so that it can debut and win at hardline.

First Ride: SRAM's New GX Transmission
Yes! This is the right question!!! If I need to swap pulley wheels or something silly, I will. I would how much of a pain the alignment process will be? It is so easy with the Eagle Axs. Hopefully they didn't make it worse with their index approach?

Shimano Patent Shows Direct Mount Electronic Derailleur
I have been a Shimano fanboy since my first Deore XT group in the mid-90s but I am tired of waiting on them to release product. Making a GRX that worked with XT/XTR might have saved our relationship but the process of building a mullet Gravel bike pushed me to AXS, and my MTB is about to follow as the Eagle X01 AXS stuff gets a bit cheaper. We had a good run Shimano, but your efforts are too little too late.

Throwback Thursday: A Brief History of Direct Mount Derailleurs
@vinay: I didn't mind the Rapid Rise. It wasn't garbage, just different...but the early axles were chromed pot steel. A modern high tensile aluminum axle would fix that issue.
