The 3D printed lattice work looks like it sits off the bar and will compress slightly under grip pressure for additional comfort and grip as well as the dampening properties.
My only concern would be ending up with a grip/hand in the mud when things get spicy in the wet. Imagine trying to clean that out on the trail! Every time you squeezed the grip you’d get a fresh coating of mud on your hands or gloves! At least you’d be able to take the grips off and rinse under the tap to clean them up when you got home although they might never look the same if the dried mud stains the print (in which case put them in the dishwasher when no-one is looking!)

@colincolin: when the geometry of the part is complex enough; like the lattice on the grips. But otherwise you are correct (although with some exaggeration; the number could be much higher than 5 sales per annum and still be cheaper than injection moulding).
