Trail City // The Bikers, Builders and Believers of Duluth, MN

Duluth, Minnesota is home to a vastly growing number of mountain bike trails. To many, these trails are so much more than paths through the woods. Trail City shows the transformation that has brought mountain biking to the area and the people who ride the trails. Told through five different perspectives, this documentary aims to highlight recent trail building in Duluth. But it is much more than that, Duluth has been going through a period of growth over the last few decades. Accelerated by passionate people, these are the builders, bikers, and believers of the growing biking and outdoor recreation scene in Duluth, MN.

Trail City is a film created and produced by Kyle Ilenda and Spencer Johnson of Level Visuals.

Right on! I grew up down the street in Escanaba, MI. Seeing this makes me miss fall and the nice people all over. The nice dirt to work with, legit forests to get lost in... gorgeous areas all over the northern Midwest. Props guys! Maybe I'll come ride soon.

My wife grew up in Duluth, and still has lots of family there.

I was a bit surprised that this video makes it sound like there was no riding at all in Duluth 10 years ago. I remeber riding with my brother in law there, must be 15+ years ago, and thinking the riding was pretty decent. Good enough that we considered moving back there (no jobs though).

From, what it looks like, it has been expanded greatly through a lot of a hard work from some awesome people.

And despite living in Oregon for the last 20 years, surrounded by some incredible riding, I'd have to say those trails make me jealous. I'd kill for those rocks slabs at the trail systems where I build and ride.

I'd have no hesitation if my wife ever said she wanted to move back home.

Well done Duluth!

Hell yeah man, Duluth does have some great trails and they are constantly up to something. Once the Duluth Traverse is finished that will be a game-changer. I do appreciate being a mere 2 hours away from all that.

Duluth is the perfect example that separate trails for separate uses is a perfectly great system. The Superior Hiking Trail started the renaissance in Duluth. And now separate mountain biking trails use the same trailheads as the SHT. Keep up the good work!!!!

Seems like when all these mid west industrial towns were motoring along commercially in the past, not sure when exactly, 20s-60s? folks were totally ignorant of the natural resource aspect. In the 70's I was pre school, but I remember how dirty Lake Erie was, dead rats, garbage, couple bodies washing up on shore....Cuyahoga river on fire I think it was, so now in a cycle or re identifying I suppose. Rivers and forest trails, sounds awesome.......

For the Midwest these trails stand up to anything else around + You can't trash the vistas of lake superior.
