So Thurston666, Thalv, and I made the drive to Portland and did a session at the Lumber Yard. What a great place! It was President's Day, so many, many lil' guys ripping about. Ol' G-pa just about crushed a couple! That would not have been a good way to start the riding day.
The two halves of LY offer a nice diversity for riding. The "green side" has a couple of great pump tracks and smaller jumps to get warmed up and work on skills. The "blue side" is where the big jumps are, and with an all-wood surface, getting speed is not a problem! The lines are well put together and easy to get used to. Thurston666 was pulling 360s by the day's end. Thalv and I were still mustering enough courage to whip 180s. Ha! Soon, Thalv... Soon.
The guys in the pro shop were excellent. Thalv had a tube replaced for 7 bucks... can't beat that! And my new green diety pedals were put on free of charge. Sweet!
The three amigos had lunch in the "pub" and enjoyed some good home-made grub. I, trying to reduce my gravitational pull, had a salad with chicken. Yums! Thalv had a killer-looking pizza and Thurston666 scarfed down a giant cheeseburger. I am just glad no one barfed on the jumps after eating so much. Must be similar to swimming.... Ha!
Go check out the Lumber Yard if you get a chance:
http://www.lumberyardmtb.com/ Super good time and the staff, who also ripped up the jumps, were excellent. We will be heading south again asap!
