Could This Flipped Drivetrain Solution Be The Future of Mountain Biking?
I'm all for innovation, I've actually sketched up some ideas similar to this in the past. This one raises a couple of questions straight away:-
1. How do you push the disc closer with the "chain" filling the gap? Belt CVT's like you find on a bandsaw have to move the belt out evenly rather than in steps, which requires some slip. If this is using a chain with distinct steps then I don't see how you would move a single disc inwards, instead you would need to segment the moving disc and move a segment at a time while it is in the chain-free part of the rotation. This is not insurmountable but it adds more complexity.
2. Another issue is chain strength, with a very small front sprocket the applied torque starts to generate a very high tension in the chain, a standard bike chain won't handle something as small as this looks.

Porsche Makes "Painful Cuts" as it Closes eBike Performance Group
@ice29: "access to spare parts" doesn't exactly sound like "continued warranty cover"... There's going to be a lot of very cross people out there, both customers and bike brands.

Day Two Randoms: FSA Riva Bike Festival 2026
I don't love a chromed hub. Polished I'm fine with, which hopefully this is. But chrome on Aluminium is unnecessarily polluting and nearly always ends up flaking off in time.

Randoms Part 1: FSA Bike Festival Riva 2026
Does ANYONE who designs flat-pedal-shoes actually run flat pedals? What's with all these huge gaps where your pins are going to be? Just give us toe and heel tread and then a nice flat area for the pins to dig into uniformly!

Peaty's Holeshot Fast Flow Tubeless Valves Claim 200% the Air Flow of Presta
@nzandyb: I don't think people have been snapping the clik valve, just the stem they are using it with. Some stems are just weak, I've snapped them with a normal presta, I have good ones now and they are fine.

Peaty's Holeshot Fast Flow Tubeless Valves Claim 200% the Air Flow of Presta
Amazed I had to scroll down so far for this. Clik valve for the win. Never mind the moments other valves might save during install or sealant top-up compared to unscrewing the core, I'm more interested in the time saved every single ride checking pressures and topping up air and without any air-loss bringing sealant back up to wreck my gauge or clog the valve.
