Trek Voluntarily Imposes E-Bike Speed Limits
@Mtbdialed: It's always hackable. It's just about making it tideous enough to keep the majority from doing it.

Final Results from the 2026 Red Bull District Ride
@stephanepelletier: How can cork be misty? Aren't cork and misty opposites of each other, one describing backward offaxis rolling and the other forward?

Pinkbike's Tech Editors Pick Their Ideal MTB Geometry Numbers (2026 Edition)
@KJP1230: Spot on. Apart from manuals and tricks I have yet to be convinced that there's actual benefit in short stays. They aren't more agile in any way or better at cornering, constant wheelbase provided, yet often making bikes with modern reach so tiring to ride to get sufficient front wheel load. And tbh if your tech is right you can also manny a high pivot DH with 470mm stays at sag.

Commencal Shares Details on the Updated Supreme DH V5.2 Downhill Frame
@IllestT: Given the weight of some aluminium DH frames that dont crack, you could think that there's no actual engineering being done on that end whatsoever at Commecal, still they charge more. That friggin frame is well beyond 5kg and still cracks under average skill and weight riders.

Commencal Shares Details on the Updated Supreme DH V5.2 Downhill Frame
@deciduous: Actually it doesn't matter, as Commencal will blame the user in case of warranty claim anyway As long as they don't actually implement a no-questions-asked replacement system like SC with their rims I'll stay clear of Commencal, as good as their bikes may be (still riding a V4.4 till it's done, so maybe I know a thing or two about their support firsthand, never again...)

Lazer’s New A-Line DH Helmet Weighs Just 880 Grams
Assuming the guys at Virginia know their stuff then yes we should be. What I take away is that blunt, unidirectional hits are far less of a concern that whiplash and transfer of rotational energy. Obv this can only go so far.
Also I don't know how good the testing certificates from ASTM etc. hold up against frontier research knowledge, but I could see how some manufacturers would rather slap a badge on than spending bucks to get their product up to speed research-wise and at the same time having to persuade the customer why they should pay 800$ for their product, which maybe additionally seems unconventional, e.g. weight-wise.

First Look: Fox Reveals New 40 Fork & Updates Grip X2 Damper
@Bahh: Good read, thanks yall. One thing: Why do you think most people want more midspeed compression to achieve more midstroke support? Ease of customer setup? I personally am very happy with midstroke support on my forks via double positive air chambers paired with reasonably sized air springs.

How Light Is Too Light? Building a 26.4-lb All-Mountain Bike That's Still Capable
@cool3: Or 11spd X01 w/ Garbaruk cage and cassette. Not having the surface treatment of the XX1 as a downside, still if I rmb about 70g lighter (10-50T) than regular 12spd X01.
