bigquotesFor downhill this morning, I think today was even better in the mud. Full spikes for dh, deep ruts, wet grass turns, loved it. Kept my runs to a minimum today, course is ever changing with this weather. - Jill Kintner

When Gwin is in it's obvious who'll take the win.
  • 25 11
wasnt the same story in World Champs
  • 12 13
when he was coming down the hill he was in the lead till he wrecked. that says little but had a chance. your little comments does little. gwin works hard to win. and so does the others. but he has made great results from beiing # 4 last year. whats your rank?
  • 13 4
I didnt insult hime did I? I never said he was a shit rider...

All I meant was he made a little mistake. If he makes that little mistake here it might cost him.

No need to take it so seriously

not hating but he was never ahead of danny...? it was close but gwin wasn't ahead?
  • 11 5
lol, americans are giving likeomg neg props because they can't accept the truth Big Grin
Here are complete results: www.pinkbike.com/news/World-Championships-2011-Danny-Hart-wins-in-Champery.html Gwin was almost a second back after split #1, before the crash. That's it.

yeah i watched it live... can remember Warner and page not knowing what to make of it all...

results clearly show hart 1 all way through (including speed trap)

I am kinda tired of hearing all this ho hum about Danny Hart winning the World Champs... Yeah his run was sick and he was waaayyyy faster than the others.......but he only won one race....and now everyone is on his jock. Crowning a World Champ with one race is ludicrous. The World Cup is much more impressive regardless of the winner. Flame on!

Every freaking article I read has some comments at the bottom by british people talking about Danny Hart! You're acting like you have never won anything and you're giddy that FINALLY something has come through. Obviously not true but thats how the Brit PB community is acting. You don't see it on any other biking site. Maybe it is because PB is dominated by young kids, who knows? No one is butt hurt about gwin losing in that race, he had and amazing season and had already more then proven himself to be the fastest guy in the world. Not that i can say i called it or was even rooting for him at the seasons start. But he has certainly earned all my respect.

Wish I could have gone down to NC! Looks like alot of fun, little bit far from CT. Wish they had more pictures on here of AM riders. Always cool to see em killing it.

Agree with you on all points mtbrider71, and it would be nice to have more photos, it's hard for us to get good coverage of East Coast events. Luckily Matt Delorme has been kind enough to hook us up with some decent shots this year!

 @miki-ck
half second after spilt one is good. how much of the race course is after split one? probably the majority.
  • 3 0
mtbrider71 I see your point, that thing was discussed too many times already. But it wasn't british guy who started this argument here, but irish Wink And he did only pointed the fact, that it doesn't matter how good rider you are, one little mistake can decide about win or lose. That's just downhill racing. And foosfreak99 took it like it was critisism on Gwin (who is surely one of the best dh riders today) and unnecessarily started the real fight Wink

I think everybody is going on about Harts run because nobody was expecting it from the 19year old. He was so close all year but then he came and bet everybdy by 11 secs thats pretty amazing. Not hating either, I respect Gwin alot for what hes done this year.

I didnt mean to start a argument either..

Binggeli won... So I guess Gwin did make that little mistake that cost him..

Too bad though I was wanting him to smash everybody by +5secs.

Seems as though Gwin isn't as dominant in the mud. Impossible to tell from only two races where he crashed but that seems to the the cause. He should go practice at Whiteface. Always some fun mud there! Ian, hope you didn't take it as an insult, just pointing out how it's always cool to see pictures of up and coming riders. Awesome to see Phil coming in at 5th! I see him at all the local races and now he is fifth in the country! Maybe I should try following him a bit more and maybe ill learn something.

Yeh I know what you mean...But he did pretty well at Leogang thsi year

Gwin took qualifying today by 11.30 seconds. Looking buttery smooth and effortless in the rock gardens. Raining again tonight and promising to be good and muddy.
  • 1 0
Thats crazy fast, considering how short the course is. I wish Strobel was there to keep him honest, he might do well on that course.

why not have race at mt hood skibowl??? the dh trail is too short for national championship title
  • 2 0
because ski bowl sucks pure and simple.
  • 1 0
Skibowl is ok, but the top half of the race course sucks badly. I think that part is called Cannonball, it's awful. But the rock garden and lower woods section was great. There is also a fun jump trail at the bottom. But hopefully Timberline will eventually have some killer trails. It would be epic to have the National Championships there someday.

to be honest the real champion this year was Brosnan. cant wait to see him win a world cup next year
  • 1 1
In absolutely no way was Brosnan the "real champion" this year. He only won one race, and that was in a junior-class only race. He was also way off the back in some of the races. He has some potential as a tech track racer, but I doubt he will win a world Cup race next year.
  • 1 0
Eh, I dont think Brosnan was the real champion either but he dominated the Junior category this year. He won round 1, round 2, round 3, round 4,round 5, 2nd in round 6, 1st again in round 7 (and 4th overall on the day), 1st in World Championships.

So how did he only win one race this year? Overall, his worst result was 30th twice (which is not way off the back) and then he had 3 top 10s (ahead of a certain Mr Hart and Mr Minaar in a few) and those guys were the only ones to beat Gwin this year so id say its very possible that he will win a race next year. And they were not just tech tracks that he did well on, they were all sorts of tracks.
