Warranties - Who's Doing Them Right, & What Could Be Improved?
Make it right and you should never hear the word warranty. I spent a decade in shops. When working at specialized/cannondale/trek dealer. I knew the warranty reps by first name basis and had their number saved in my phone. I then spend 6 years at an ibis dealership. Over those 6 years, I only submitted two claims. They were dealt with promptly and properly and covered the labor on the customer's end.

Spotted: A Mechanical SRAM Transmission Derailleur
Nice. Every mech derailleur "gets out of the way" even more than an electronic one. They both are limited by the limit screw. The electric on doesn't move as much, just a little blip. The mechanical one has a spring that pushes against the cable. When the der gets hit, the force of that hit over comes the force provided by the spring and pushes it in and the cable goes slack then when the force is gone, the spring forces the parallelogram back on to the cable. It's always been a thing; Scam's marketing department was just really good at using it as a selling point.

Jul 15, 20192018 Sworks Stumpjumper **MUST SEE**
$3200 USDIt’s time for me to sell my Stumpjumper. This is the 4th Stumpjumper that I’ve had, and I’m selling to get a new one. I’ve had this bike in its current set up since June of 2019. There are a lot of parts that have been changed since I’ve had the “idea” of this bike when I bought it new in September of 2018. Since then LITERALLY, everything has been changed and is like new. Any questions please ask. Most reachable by text. I work at two different bike shops and have been a mechanic for the past 5 years. Asking $3200 but able to entertain offers. Willing to deliver or meet halfway instead of shipping.
- Frame - 2018 SWORKS Stumpjumper 650B size large. The frame was replaced in June of 2019 and has only 10 rides on it. The frame that his one replaced was a 2018 SWORKS Stumpjumper that had a warranty issue. One the first ride that I had on the new frame a snapped the drive-side chainstay. This has been replaced and has 0 rides and is brand new.
- Fork - 2019 Ohlins RFX36. I picked up the fork at Ohlin's headquarters in Hendersonville NC April of 2019, so I got to assemble it with the mechanics there. The fork has 160mm of travel and has the new EVO internals. There are no scratches and the fork feels amazing.
- Wheels – Industry nine 305 Enduro with Hydra Hubs (690 points of engagement). The wheels have gold hubs and when doing the frame swap in June, I serviced the freehub. Wheels were installed in March of 2019 still run straight and true with no play in the hubs. A couple of rock strikes in the rear wheel from normal riding up in the mountains.
- Shock – Ohlins STX 22 coil shock. The shock was installed in May of 2018 and has been my favorite upgrade that I’ve done to this bike. When at Ohlins picking up the previously mentioned fork, I had the shock serviced as well.
- Brakes – Saint brakes front and rear. 203 mm rotor in the front and 180 mm rotor in the back. The rear brake was replaced in April of 2019. The front brake was new in May of 2018. Did Pads and rotors front and rear, and a full bleed in May of 2019.
- Cushcore foam inserts front and rear. Installed in April of 2019 with the new tires listed below
- Seatpost – Raceface Turbine R. 175 mm of travel
- Handlebar – ENVE M70 770 mm wide 25 mm riser bars. New in March of 2019
- Stem – Industry Nine 35 mm stem. Gold and black color. New in March of 2019 with the handlebar.
- New headset and bottom bracket when I did the frame swap in June of 2019
- Tires – Minion DHF 2.6 front and rear. New in April of 2019
- Derailleur - XX1 Eagle 12 speed. New from a warranty in March of 2019
- Cassette – XX1 Eagle 12 speed. Replaced in March of 2019
- Crank – XX1 Eagle crank 175mm long. This and the shifter are the only original part from the first frame that was purchased in September of 2018
- Shifter – XX1 Eagle 12 speed.
- Chain – Replaced in November of 2018
