@no-good-ideas: yeah I have a hard time believing the distances are all measured linear from lip to landing. Some smaller Fest jumps are actually 40-50ft and these definitely don't look as big. A perfect example would be that first step down. It's definitely big but looking at the rider in the air in comparison to the gap, I'd say it's more like 20ft out 10ft down and probably 25ft lip to landing linear. I'm assuming their either calculating arc or the "prime landing zone" and not the knuckle of the jumps. Regardless, definitely bigger than most of us will ever go haha

I would have to disagree. I understand your perspective and actually don't think it's necessarily wrong, I just think it's slightly narrow focused. The environmental changes that have occurred in California over the last few decades surely indicates climate change. One can easily see this with increased water shortages, record heatwaves, flash flooding and even driving past Shasta lake and mountain right now. The forests that once used to get an appropriate amount of moisture and nutrients are shrinking due to these greater environmental factors. Drier, unhealthier forests are basically then a tinder box waiting for a spark. That spark could be naturally caused or human caused, but the issue of climate change, especially in California is much deeper than how these fires started, it's the results of the conditions of the environment that allowed these fires to occur so easily and spread much more rapidly.

The stupidity and laziness of some people on this website absolutely bewilder me.

Is it just me or does this contest really only benefit pro riders who are already partially supported or given equipment free by GoPro? I know they need to make money just like anyone else and these vids are insane, but can't help but think this is not really a fair contest for the masses at all. There were some sick non-pro submissions in here (like Bryce or Jacob) but again it just makes me feel like they were thrown in there to not raise questions when ultimately a top pro wins.

Not sure that was close to 59 feet out (maybe the arc of the jump) but still sick!
