I'm an ex XC racer and I'm a weekend warrior now on a 160mm trail bike with dropper post. Let me explain this to you in detail: A dropper post on an XC bike is totally useless. Most pros use hardtails and the angle between the bottom bracket and the top of the saddle always remains the same. Your balls never touch the saddle, you even need to feel the saddle on your inner leg to properly navigate the bike.
On the other hand, on a full suspension bike, the part between the bottom bracket and the top of the saddle always moves. Thats why its easier to ride with a dropper post on a full suspension bikes.
But for 90% of the xc guys out there a dropper would be totally useless. Not to mention the additional weight and the risk of malfunction.
