I am definitely doing shots every time time Josh says "If anyone can... " fill in the blank action > "it is " fill in the name of the rider in view >. Yawn-fest commentary. I never knew how much only that rider could shralp a berm or jump, love Les Gets, or go fast compared to all the rest of them
He did 6 or 7 of those in from 30 to 11 before (I guess?) he disappeared with no explanation. Next level cliche and dull for as much stoke as he actually does have

@succulentsausage: Carlson does bring the stoke, but if he can ditch his farcical pronouncement every other run that "IF ANYONE CAN ... " jump, gap, turn it on, shralp, love the sport, etc >>> " IT IS ...." (Jackson, or Vali, Marine, Amaury, whoever ") then he would enter the higher eschelons of commentary. Fingernails on the chalkboard and wildly cliche and he should know better. It is a tie tot Ric's space-commentary at times (though I'll say he was the best this round of any).

M - ON - EY - THE BELT
The Beastie Boys, Hello Brooklyn
But it was the Bestie Girl that took the money this time
Our whole crew here was yelling and screaming, what a fucking moment and I think this proves that 1) just about any of the top 10-15 riders can win at any time; 2) riders improve, have great days and have shit days and 3) Vali could've prob won the 100k prize any other race on a belt bike already

Injuries Suck, But They're Part of Mountain Biking
@HB208: could be, and of course I'm talking about 70s and 80s, one experience with my uncle but seems like there are a couple of deaths every year around my area, Western North Carolina, and a number of just straight up physical attacks... not really sure since I'm not in the road community and the short sections I ever am on roads, I'm just scared as hell. I think it has gotten better around this area for sure so I probably have a hyperbolic conception of this... I just use roads to drive to my trails, stay back in the woods or at parks – kill myself of my own means!

Injuries Suck, But They're Part of Mountain Biking
This. Can't say how many times I visited my road biker uncle in the hospital in the late 79s / early 80s when you had to be suicidal to ride here... people would stop & attack him, beer-can bash, run off the road and assault. He finally started packing and sent plenty of people off that way but that doesn't mean ya can't easily die... you might know the three guys who were killed in Mars Hill a few months ago by a dump truck. I can't even be out on roads at all, even get a car near me whatsoever and I'm freaking the hell out. Gimme broken everything, impalements, bears and snakes... even meth-heads in the woods are easier than cars

Video: Laps and Taps - A New England Ride Tour
Killer vid w/ all the stoke, community, grilling, beers, and even a bottle of maple syrup... what's not to love. Had to watch this one a few times... didn't even know about Arrowhead
Early fall in New England is a phenomenon people, so get up to Bolton Valley / Richmond / E. Burke Vermont (NH, maybe some Maine)... a crap color year up there w/ all that spruce-fir setting it off blows most everywhere else away in good years for fall leaf color... and good years will leave in awe. If ya hit it just before major leaf drop, w/ that austere light coming through the canopy - and actual ponds & lakes all around - plus that killer rural northeast vibe, farm stands, apple cider donuts (and apples), mom & pops shops all around... primo living. A good life.

Gypsy Tales Podcast: Greg Minnaar on Honda MTB, Almost Quitting & The Cost of Winning
@lepigpen: very true, he is probably the best and in fact, maybe the most consistent since most other pods tend to dabble in bikes, gear, and other topics a little bit more… But I figured downtime was obvious. Other pods do interviews here and there but he really specializes in it, and it is definitely a skill
