Dario DiGiulio's 2025 Predictions
You are right.
Braking distance is determined by the one thing that connects your bike with the ground.
The tires.
Even already old and not so extrem powerful Shimano Saints can easily lock up the wheels even on asphalt on an 25kg emtb.
At this point more braking power, or even bigger rotors makes zero sense.
But the new generation of brakes often come with other good things, like light lever action, better ergonomics, or better feel.
And that's good.

This bike has everything I don't like.
Ugly, outdated suspension design, expensive and cable tourism.

Video: How to Buy a Value Bike in 2024
I disagree a bit on the cockpit thing.
Some frames with headset routing come with cables so short that changing, for example to longer bars with more rise is not possible.
Same with special stems that only work with the plasic headset.
Having a good frame that uses easy to work on standards like normal headsets, bsa bb and so on is more important than some parts that can be changed later anyway.

Value Field Test: Haro Saguaro - The Pink Anvil
@MagerValp: That's the only good thing those Shimbois are good for. Love getting perfectly Sram parts for peanuts on the used market.

Value Field Test: Haro Saguaro - The Pink Anvil
@fartboy69theworshipable: I don't get it. The only weak point of NX is the B-bolt which is easy to fix. Deore or SLX on the other hand get floppy literally everywhere and a cage made of red bull thin can. I don't even want to know how bad Cues is.

First Look: The 2025 Marin Alpine Trail E Has a Bosch Motor & More Adjustability
@mi-bike:
Sad, but very true.
Almost all of the ebikes like this one at the very best see some forest trails.
And a lot of owners barely make 500km in 3 years.

E-Bike Battery Fires - Should You Be Worried?
@rambotion2: there are so many idiots that tinker with their Surrons battery, or other electric parts on them.
Haven't seen a single original Surron catch fire.
