Ridden and Rated: Six Flat Pedals
When I got my bike I had the shop put on a pair of the Electrons; composite body & metal pins seemed like a winner, but they came apart literally as I rode out the shop. Turns out the entire batch they had in store were missing the nut that holds the body on the axle. Got upgraded to DMR V12s for no extra cost and I couldn't be happier; never slipped a foot on even the sketchiest rock gardens. I get your point though, my ~£50 pedals perform just as well as my mate's Vaults at twice the price.

@jclnv: As mentioned above, the HSE works to what's "Reasonably Foreseeable" and "Reasonably Practicable". If it's reasonably foreseeable that the outside of a techy corner is liable to be a wash out zone for crashes, it would be reasonably practicable to prevent spectators gathering in that area. It's not reasonably practicable to prevent spectators standing within 10m of every section of an Enduro race, nor would it be reasonably foreseeable for a rider to have a wild high-sider off on a relatively smooth, level-ish motorway section.

Red Bull Hardline Finals Photo Epic
You make it sound like the event isn't legit. Warner's overhyped commentary aside, the track itself makes a mockery of some of the WC courses and should raise some eyebrows in the UCI offices. Major props to Dan, Olly Davey, and all the Dyfi Diggers for crafting such an awe-inspiring track.

Really? I don't see it myself. The Ancillotti is an over-complicated, retro styled work of art, this thing to me has the stylistic appeal of a 2003 Ford Fiesta. Working with CF means you can get smooth flowing lines and blended radii, and avoid the hard angles that concentrate stress flow in materials

I'd have thought the opposite to the commenters above. Racers will want to have to haul less weight around, admittedly not at a total sacrifice to durability, whereas your average weekend Joe park basher is probably going to want the shiny carbon rims to last as long as resonably possible despite the cased jumps and rocky line "choices" they inevitably put them through.

Speaking as an engineer, it's often considered advantageous to have a CS length thats at least a bit greater than your rear wheel radius. Whatever you consider to be a proper wheel radius is the topic of another debate
