After a long absence, the iXS European Downhill Cup is back in Verbier, Switzerland. Adam Brayton and Justine Welzel show you here that the high-altitude resort in the Valais is the perfect venue for this year's final. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

The track called "Tire's Fire" of the bike park located in the French-speaking part of Valais is definitely one of the most physically and technically demanding in Switzerland. The start is at 2090 metres above sea level below Les Ruinettes. From there, the riders will face 2200 metres of track and 550 metres of altitude gain before arriving at the finish in Médan. These details alone promise a high level of challenge, whereby the nature of the course and the partly high speed also require enormous concentration.

@Kirky86: At first I thought Justine had a few big crashes because of the way they zoomed just before switching to Adam's perspective. Glad it wasn't. Other than that it didn't bother me too much. It was just POV footage from two riders and as such it was good enough.

FFS kick a man while he's down. Fantastic vid. Clear, easy commentary and nice speed. We'll done Ads & Justine.

Rode this track many years ago. Watched all the vids, knew the layout, thought it looked doable. Oh no it wasn't! Amazing track but properly tough and well outside my comfort zone. Beat up the body. What looked like small holes became wheel-swallowing chasms of doom. Little rock steps became proper drops - usually with steepness thrown in! The camera doesn't do justice to just how rough and vertical that rock garden at 6.00 actually is!

We done a day riding at verbier this summer a 50km of descending in a day and when I looked at the piste map afterwards we had hardly scratched the surface ! Looking forward to going back soon

Cool. Still, it's a shame not to see the kestrel putting all his effort towards world cup racing. Hope he's allowed back at the top level where he belongs.

The zooming in back & forth between riders was not good. I hope Gas to Flat does well in this race.

That looks like a proper downhill track! The ixs tracks always look more brutal than the world cup tracks

Mint place to ride. If only one of the tracks came out at Pub Mont Fort it would be unbeatable haha!
