@tacopop: Right, I don't think skateboards are a great comparison. Skating is sick and the fact that the equipment hasn't changed in over 30 years is rad. And they keep it core AF. Sorta like BMX. BMX and skateboarding is a better comparison.
But, Full suspension racing bicycles (and road racing bicycles) are in a completely different league R&D and technology-wise. It's more comparable to power sports. No one has to buy the same level bicycle that the top-pros ride. But you can if you want. Like, cycling is the only sport in which you can buy the same bike the top pros ride off the shop floor is an anomaly. Very few people have access to the power sports equipment that the pros drive. and if they did they would be tens of to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
