Review: The EXT Vaia USD Fork is Extra Adjustable, But Lacks Consistency
The method of loading is completely different than actual riding, so the numbers are only to compare different forks and not very relevant to real use. In the test the load is close to the furthest point from the fork axis which gives the maximum length torque arm (moment arm in engineering speak). When riding the torque arm length is only from the contact patch to the fork axis which is much less. I have a Dorado and a Podium and have no complaints about torsional stiffness, only grins about traction and suppleness.

The top 2 graphs look bogus. The anti squat numbers are all wrong and contradict the lower graph. The pedal kickback on this I-Track design is very low which is not what the graph shows.

Very bad choice to add weight to the 29er. If they didn't weight the 29er, then they would have been able to see if any of the perceived advantages of the 32" wheel could overcome the weight (static and rotational) disadvantages.

@phops: The reason why a mixed wheel bike turns better (all motocross bikes are mixed and by a bigger diameter ratio) is that the rear wheel follows a tighter radius in the corner than the front wheel. The smaller wheel's natural turn radius is smaller than the larger front wheel's natural turn radius for a given lean angle. So with the mixed wheel bike both wheels are closer to the natural turn radius and not fighting each other. UCI doesn't allow mixed wheels for XC because they are old stodgy Europeans. They should let any wheel size to be used on front or back and over time the optimum set up will emerge.

@G-Sport: Your analysis is what I was taught in Engineering school. I think the shape of the static contact patch could change with the radial casing, but not the size. There might be some difference in a dynamic sense as the radial casing being more supple might respond to dynamic changes in the load quicker?

First Ride: Schwalbe's New Albert Gravity Pro Tires Use a Radial Casing for Improved Grip
In School we were taught that if you have 100lbs load on the tire and 25 psi pressure, the contact patch is 100/25 = 4 square inches. Radial construction does not change this. How is the contact patch bigger at the same pressure?
