The Pinkbike Podcast: Episode 92 - Does Bike Weight Really Matter?
The biggest simplification is assuming constant velocity. Pedaling leads to bikes being periodically accelerated and decelerated, it becomes very obvious on steep slow climbs that weight matters much more.

Chances aren't too bad that mountain bike speed *does* peak at 27,5 at least on the rear wheel for gravity applications. It's the only occasion where they went back in size.

Are Bike Brands Greenwashing? We Asked An Expert
I still believe that the Trek report that was published some weeks ago, greenwashed the CO2 impact of the ebike battery. As we discussed in the comments there, the calculation was way off. The other parts were probably legit to make the battery look harmless.

I wanted to post the same thing. Pinkbikes answer is just a generic setup reply, but that forks problem lies in the compression tune.

@CarlMega: especially because you are accelerating your bike not once, but with every pedal stroke again and again. Think of a steep out of saddle climb. Assuming constant velocity just doesnt work here.
