Each year, thousands of mountain bikers travel from far and wide to reach the mountain biking mecca, Whistler, BC. Some make the last-minute choice and hop on the next plane out of Australia. Others plan their trip for years. It's not easy to survive in such a place. Hard-earned money constantly flows from your pockets to fuel the lifestyle you crave. At the end of the day, a quick scan of your surroundings will assure you it's worth it.
Tom and I started planning a video early July, shortly after I had arrived. The wait began for both my rotator cuff injury to heal, and for a change in weather from the smoking hot, sunny days. Eventually we grew impatient and jumped on the first somewhat cloudy day. The weather shifted between sun and light cloud for a few days until finishing our shoot during an evening thunderstorm. We wanted to do something somewhat unique with the intro. Three hours of BBC Planet Earth clips later, and I had complied some appropriate samples.
