Marco Fidalgo Passes Away Following Motorcycle Crash
The EWS in Madeira will have a little bit of poignancy this year. My heart goes out to the Portuguese mtb community.

First Ride: YT's New Long-Travel 29er, the Jeffsy 29 CF Pro Race
Very very similar geo numbers with the Ibis Ripmo. Other than seat tube length, some measurements are just a few mm difference while some numbers are nearly identical. I'd be very interested to see how one compares to the other.

Review: The Banshee Legend 29" Rewards Aggressive Riders
"For heavy riders who charge really hard they may work, but I will take a 31.8mm alloy bar every time. " Same here. After I got screwed over a warranty claim on my broken SixC handlebar, I moved to a Spank Vibrocore handlebar and the improvement in ride comfort was very obvious. And, yes, 31.8 clamping is better. Don't let the 35mm hype fool you.

Pinkbike Awards: Athlete of the Year Winner
In a span of 4 weeks, Maes won: Whistler EWS, La Bresse DH World Cup, and 2nd by a slim 0.2 seconds at UCI DH World Championship. I wonder if this feat will ever be duplicated or topped in the next 20 years.

@Spech: They did choose a higher offset but at 46mm. Standard offset for a 650b Pike was 42mm.

When the first 650b Giant Reign came out in 2014, it did so with custom offsets on the Pikes that came with it.

Pinkbike Awards: Suspension Product of the Year Winner
"If you were riding mountain bikes during those crazy times when nearly anything went in the 1990s, you might know all about funny rubber bumpers being used as springs... " Still very much alive in the year 2018 courtesy of Lauf. ^_^

EWS Announces 2019 European Enduro Series & Qualifier Calendar
"Foray into Asia"? You must mean Oceania, mate. No Asian venues on the calendar next year.

Pinkbike Awards: Athlete of the Year Nominees
In a 4 week span, Maes won Whistler EWS, DH World Cup, and went second in the DHI World Championships by 2/10ths of a second. I doubt it if this will ever be matched or beaten in the future.
