It's simply the easiest layout for making a dual suspension bike at home, but you're right; it is nice to see different layouts which show off the versatility and viability of steel for dual sus frames. Swarf, BTR, and Cotic are other good examples.

@rivercitycycles: From what I remember ABP’s were a POS. Same theory yes but I think people have their kinematics sorted better now.

Keep in mind this isn't their first linkage driven single pivot. They've dabbled here and there over the years.

Video: 32 Bikes Bottomed Out In Ultra Slo Motion (1000 FPS)
It looks as though almost all the duallies go through 2 stages of compression. Like there's the initial impact and shock compression, then they pause for a bit, then proceed to go through their remaining 25% of travel. It looks most minimal on the single pivot Starling.

There must be some crazy fabrication needed to get a good strong and light chromoly structure to house the battery. I expect lots of CNC cut, welded together sheet metal, like an Orange but steel.
