Final Results from Red Bull Hardline Tasmania 2024
Any update on Jackson yet? Just watched Laurie's POV and there's a massive tree beside the camera he flew in to. Really hope he's alright, looked like he may have hurt his knee?

Pinkbike Poll: Who is the Unofficial Red Bull Rampage Pinkbike's Choice Winner?
@Hobbitracing: I'm talking about a small undershoot and you already knew that. It obliterates your argument so you're pretending I meant Brendog would be fine if he hit his canyon gap with exactly half the speed needed to clear the thing. Come on man. How about a little objectivity? The canyon gap is obviously dangerous, no one is arguing that. But he could case it by a couple feet and likely ride out, maybe even without any mechanicals. We saw exactly what happens when someone cases a huge step down last year with Strait. Why are you trying to make stuff up to help your argument? Is it so hard to admit someone may have a good point?

9 Thoughts on Red Bull Rampage 2023
@milanboez: Arguably the largest consequences yes, but the actual manoeuvre he had to do on that battleship was like a 2/10 on the difficulty scale. TVS had almost the same consequences on his caveman (failure = tumbling down 100's of feet of vertical rock face), while completing a far more difficult manoeuvre. Also, there was some (slight) room for error on both the battleship and canyon gap that didn't exist for so many other tricks we saw. Just watch brendog's first attempt at the battleship gap. he comes up 2 or 3 feet short of the ideal landing, cases it, and is totally fine. If Zink or TVS miss by that much on their most consequential moves, they end up in the hospital at a minimum. I think that's what people are missing here. I loved the battleship as much as anyone else, and definitely recognize that death is a real possibility if you screw it up, but it wasn't a difficult line for guys of that skill. Anyone who says Zink wouldn't/couldn't ride that just isn't being real with themselves. He rode a far more difficult drop to gap combo, and immediately followed it up with one of, if not the, biggest dirt-to-dirt flat drop back flips ever.

Pinkbike Poll: Who is the Unofficial Red Bull Rampage Pinkbike's Choice Winner?
@Hobbitracing: If I have to explain to you how you can undershoot that gap and be totally fine, then it's not worth this conversation. Honestly just watch the video of Brendog's first hit. He undershoots by about 2 feet and is totally fine. If Zink cases his backflip by the same margin, he's very likely in the hospital.

Pinkbike Poll: Who is the Unofficial Red Bull Rampage Pinkbike's Choice Winner?
@Cprobst: Fair enough. Good point about no one else doing the battleship beside Szymon. Maybe it is more difficult than I think for riders of that skill level. Also I think it just didn't fit into some of the runs going that way since they peeled off the ridge right near it. Brendog's run was awesome, but between the backflip-can, long drop, long low canyon gap, huge step down back flip, 40' flat drop 360, and all the other stuff in between, I think Zink's just had more. Brendog definitely gets the creativity award from me though.

Agreed, that was the best riding we've seen at a rampage maybe ever.

Pinkbike Poll: Who is the Unofficial Red Bull Rampage Pinkbike's Choice Winner?
@OlSkoolJake: I didn't say the judging was spot on, I do think there were a few weird scores for sure, but it was better than usual, IMO. I could be way off. I seem to be outnumbered here, so maybe I am. I just don't think people realize how crazy Zink's run was for some reason. Do people not like the guy? I remember lots of comments when the riders list came out for this, of people claiming him and Strait were washed up and needed to step aside for new blood. So maybe I've missed something and people do hate the guy lol You're definitely right that it is far more difficult for new riders coming into existing venues, but I'm not sure what the answer is. The best events have occurred after the first year at a new venue. Those first years at new locations are always a dangerous, rush to the finish, where we often see more injuries and lesser riding. Not sure what the answer is.

Pinkbike Poll: Who is the Unofficial Red Bull Rampage Pinkbike's Choice Winner?
@pastaman23: Brendog had to gap roughly 3m and not go more than 2 feet off line. i.e. a fairly straightforward manoeuvre that any pro biker can do. Yes, extremely high consequence if he fails, no arguing there. If TVS lands slightly off on the 6m caveman drop or doesn't get enough traction on the crucial breaking, he's tumbling down a couple hundred feet of near vertical rock face.

Pinkbike Poll: Who is the Unofficial Red Bull Rampage Pinkbike's Choice Winner?
@raybao: The battleship was insanely consequential, 100% heli ride. But the actual manoeuvre to get on & off of it was not technically difficult. Anyone of those guys with the balls to try it could do it in their sleep. The canyon gap was insanely tough yes, the run-in was so cool with the little gap, but argue all you want, there is room for error there. Slight over or undershoot or miss the line left or right slightly and he's fine. Maybe a blown tire or something, but likely no injuries. Zink's backflip had zero room for error. TVS caveman had zero room for error. So I gotta disagree with you. I hate arguing about it cause it makes it looks like I didn't like Brendog's run, but I loved it. It was amazing and could have won many rampage events in the past, just not today.
