Pinkbike Celebrates International Women's Day
@jclnv: Cool. Thanks for your opinion on women's racing. I recommend coming out to one of the events and talking to the women about why they find the events to be beneficial, because a lot of them do. We can go around and around about why some women are intimidated to race co-ed events, but we can definitely agree that on some level there has been a failure (parental? societal? other?) and we're just trying to help close the gap.

Great article! I love hearing the diversity of voices/opinions, the amount of stoke, and the hope for the future! Every single person featured in this article is amazing. The industry is changing, and I have high hopes for the future that my daughter will be participating in.

Pinkbike Celebrates International Women's Day
@jclnv: As a organizer of one of these women's races I am ecstatic to hear that some of the local teen/younger girls think that women's races are odd - if they think that then we've done our job of encouraging more women to take up racing - in all it's versions. If there's no longer a market for women's races and more women are signing up for "regular" races then I'd be so stoked! The whole point of women's races is to help brake down the barriers to entry to regular racing - generally intimidation - and encourage women to get into racing. Yay for people on bikes!

Race Report: 2018 Sturdy Dirty Enduro - Tiger Mountain
The main goal of the Sturdy Dirty races isn't to groom top tier talent, but to encourage more women to get into racing by providing a fun environment. This method has been successful with a growth of participation by women at the local co-ed races. At the same time, it's not often that women who are wanting to pin it are able to compete against a field of 20+ women in their class. The sport 19-39 class had over 40 women! It means a lot more to say that you won your class when you're competing against 40 women than when you have a field of 5. I'll also note that Canada has a similar race (HOYH) and they don't lack for top level talent! Also, Jill Kintner. Kialani Hines. Both from the beautiful PNW.
