@jomacba: that is true. i should have clarified, they offered cranks shorter than 165mm. i run 150mm cranks on all my bikes. 165mm is too long for me. i meant to say 165mm.

the only thing that made me want a 5dev crank was that they were offered in 165mm. then i found canfield cranks that cost half the price, backed by superior customer service, and run by a small team with a great reputation. now i have 4 sets of canfield cranks.

soooo you are able to build a bike that is more powerful that the previous generation, make it lighter, and get it to around 44lbs (liv)
but you didn't try to make a bike that is just as powerful, has 33% more range out of the same power, and get it to 40lbs? cus you know that is exactly what people need and would benefit most from.
am i missing something here, or are bike companies stupid?
ffs, give us a 160/160 travel bike, that has 37lbs, has 55nm, with 500w max power and let be able to do 25k feet climbing on a charge.

if i ride an enduro race with a xc mtb, is it all of a sudden on an enduro?
can you do leadville on a gravel bike (the real course)? the answer is YES.
can you win leadville on a gravel bike? the answer is NO.
if you have ridden it, you would know. you'd lose so much time on the descents. we're talking a real gravel bike, not a gravel bike with a 80-100mm travel fork.
imagine a downhill race composed of 1500 people, and 5 or so people ride xc mtb's and people saying it's not a dh course. lmfao.

@totaltoads: yeah, i know people like that too. i personally love them. great for bike shops, great for the bike industry, and great for me. because in those items eventually hit the used market place, and if interested, i can have it at 40%+ off, knowing that it was mostly ridden on blue flow trails.
