Ok, watch it at 0.5 speed and you will see that he had the left side nubs of the tire tread on the edge of the ramp at probably a 20 degree camber going mach chicken. That is a paper thin margin.

ALL the riders are my favorite, I am not rooting against or for one, just a awesome run from each. So, the current system is actually really good. A elite rider can adjust their strategy for the Qualifying rounds (maybe extra 5psi in the tires and ride 5% slower, they will probably still beat the lower section of riders). I also like that the overall points are more evenly distributed, so we still have no clear picture who's gonna take it (sans Vali).
